I read about this statement over the weekend in Chris Prentiss' Zen Happiness, part of The Happiness Project series. I read this book three times until I understood and accepted this expression: “ everything that happens to us is the best thing that can happen to us". It is difficult to agree with this statement. Especially for those who have lost loved ones, health. How can we agree that the death of a loved one is the best thing that can happen to us? To understand this statement, one must understand Zen.

What is Zen?

Zen is one of the most important schools of Buddhism. Today it has spread all over the world thanks in large part to a very simple philosophy. Zen is the feeling of living here and now. It is the ability to see into the essence life experience and express your true nature. Zen follows the laws of the universe. For example, the fact that the Universe is consciousness and everything that exists is part of one whole. Another truth is that we are the authors of every next moment. We create it with our thoughts and attitudes. Life is as we see it. "There is nothing good or bad, it is our perception that makes things so." It was not the author of Zen Happiness who said so, but William Shakespeare. The author only cited his words as the universality of the truths of Zen. Well, the most important truth - everything that happens to us happens for our good . Like this? Why?

Why are we here?

According to Zen, we all came to this Earth in our bodies for the purpose of spiritual development. spiritual growth does not happen by itself, it is stimulated by various obstacles, events that the Universe is preparing for us. Obstacles make us stronger and more mature. « old saying says: A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And we are only as strong as our greatest weakness,” writes Chris Prentiss.

The universe speaks to us in the language of events, and it is never wrong. If we have some kind of weak link, but the Universe will hit there. If we do not work on our “weak links” in spiritual development, then the Universe will find the most suitable way for us to show it to us. And she will “teach” us until we learn. And in this perspective - indeed, everything that happens to us happens for our good, that is, for our spiritual development. And the development of the Universe, because we are part of it. The universe does nothing to harm itself. Otherwise it would cease to exist. That is how her life is sustained and ours too.

Chris Prentiss cites as an example his and his son's years of struggle against heroin addiction. His son was on the verge of death, his bones were broken, terrible things happened to him, but he still took drugs. Once he understood the origins of his addiction and since then he has not touched drugs and alcohol. What was good about it? It was only after these ordeals that Chris Prentiss and his son came to the decision to establish their own addiction center, in which hope is given to those who have long lost it.

Happiness by Zen

Happiness according to Zen lies in the state of mind. If the mind accepts everything that happens calmly, learns lessons in time and directs forces and energy to spiritual development, then happiness is simply inevitable. We attract happiness and happy thoughts to ourselves if we are in a good mood, if we are happy. Dark thoughts attract the dark. The path to happiness according to Zen lies in the ability to accept events as they are, without negative emotional evaluation. The attitude helps to do this: “Everything that happens to us happens for our good.”

Of course, not every minor trouble has a deep meaning for a person. In the life of every person, troubles happen - we lose something, things are stolen from us, we are late for the plane. Happy is the man who does not make his happiness dependent on these events. And the one who makes himself dependent on events receives so many of them in his life ... How much? Perhaps on trifles and no more than happy man. The whole difference is in perception. The Zen devotee will give the last shirt to the thief and be glad that he survived, and a common person he won’t sleep for three days and will dump the negative on all his loved ones, and the fact that he lives is a matter of course.

When a person's thoughts accept situations, when a person adapts to it, he no longer perceives it as negatively as it could be at the beginning. Zen teaches you to see the truth immediately in every situation. In the end, this is exactly what makes us better. Sometimes painful, with tears, but it makes us better.

P.S.: Today I was traveling with children by car. I was driving fast, but within the limits of the speed limit. Some crazy old man in front of me suddenly changed his mind about going left and decided at the last moment on the move to change lanes to the right, where I was just driving. I had to slow down so that my elder hit his head on a plastic table. At first I cursed, and then I thought that I should be more careful. There are plenty of such reckless drivers in Germany, especially on a holiday. And what do you think? A minute later, an even worse scorcher - in a white sports Mercedes, almost drove under my right side (he drove out of the side street to the main one) when I quietly switched to the right lane like that. Then I thought: the first case with the old man was really a good sign, which slowed me down a bit. I don't know what would have happened in the second case.

Almost all the songs on this album are new, except for the track "Not in reality", the blanks of which were still during the recording period " In the very center of the world". The CD also includes a cover version of the song. "Funny Heart" group "Black Lukich", prepared for the tribute album of this group. Already at the final stage of work on the disc, it was decided to supplement it with two bonus tracks: the song "The Sun of Laura", prepared for the recording of the first album, but not included in it, and a new mixing of the composition "I want to live". Due to lack of time before the presentation, the song "Angel" was mixed by Jan Survilo. For the second edition of the disc, Dimka intended to remix it. But in connection with the death of Dmitry, these plans are now in question.

Disk "Everything that happens to us" was released in the fall of 2012 by the Vyrgorod label. Its presentation took place in Moscow on October 18, 2012. In November 2012, the album was presented during the group's tour "The Sun of Laura" in the South of Russia (Voronezh, Nevinnomyssk, Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Rostov-on-Don).

"The new album "Everything That Happens to Us" is our big step forward, where we reached a completely new qualitative level. It was possible, of course, with the experience of recording the debut record, then we learned a lot. If on the first album we drew more such musical canvases, like the song "Bridge", filling them different colors, but now, having this palette, we strived to create a record where every song would touch people. These are songs about what happens in life. Therefore, they are somewhere easier. But, nevertheless, this is the result of a long and painstaking work, where there is nothing random from the order of the songs, to any note and word. This is a deep album that must be heard. I like to create things that are like good book you have to re-read it several times, where not everything opens at once and there are a lot of layers."

The last line on the album's closing song "The Sun of Laura" sounds like this: "This is the Sun of Laura, and I am no more". On December 8, 2012, on a highway near Moscow, the car in which Dimka and his friends were driving to the dacha of familiar musicians skidded into ice. Dmitry died on the spot.

Out of my mind, I had already worked with this concept before, shortly before this incident, and I dug up a lot of things in myself from the past ... Now it's time to deal with this deeper and get all the skeletons out of the closet))), ventilate and refresh it ...

What is competition? Competition has its roots deep in our past, when people believed in their separation from the Source and stopped trusting the World, God…

When and how do we feel the influence of competition in our lives? When we doubt our uniqueness, when we believe that our energy is not needed here on Earth in the form in which it is, that we need to do something, modify, search, find, in order to find a use for our energy and our abilities ... I saw myself pure light, Divine Light, Pure, bright Energy, the like of which is not in the world, like the energy of every person on Earth and my Energy is so UNIQUE that the Earth needs it, many people need it ...

I got a clear image that I have no need to fight for anything, because I occupy exactly MY NICHE in the Universe and my Energy is VALUABLE and NECESSARY ... and EVERYTHING that I need will always come to my Energy by itself ...
