The role of Russian literature in my life. The Importance of Literature in the Modern World

The reformatting of culture also leads to the fact that literature goes into the background, and we can hardly predict how distant it is. Undoubtedly, they read less - and I think that the proportion of literature as such will change. Just like literature itself. Something is happening to her too: I remember how 30 years ago I first saw a comic book, a luxurious novel about mice. I looked at it in bewilderment, and my artist friend called it the books of the future. I snorted, but she was right. Our channels of perception are expanding, they are changing the direction of their work. Human creativity, of course, will remain, only a person will not write books. But in the drawings, as we know, a whole culture has grown.

Where there is contact between several arts, something new grows. When we saw the first films of Fellini, we realized that this is not cinema, but something else. Apparently, everything will be different. Wildly interesting! Please note that if 40 years ago science fiction was the main genre and we read Bradbury, now science fiction is of little interest: we live in the time that science fiction writers of the 20th century projected for us.

So I really want to record what is happening. I have been writing notebooks all my life. In recent years, these self-reports have become more interesting to me. I don't remember much anymore and can hardly remember what happened last week. Life is so intense and fast that there is not enough memory: I am not Dima Bykov. It even feels like I can't catch up with my own life.

Background: as a student of the philological faculty, I conducted a survey among classmates regarding literature: their preferences and volumes of what they read over the past year. In 80% of cases, they blatantly lied to me in order to seem smarter, more educated, etc.

Today, reading has become a trend, which means things are bad. It is very difficult to choose a worthy book, because second-rate novels lie on the shelves with bestsellers, ratings are filled with rubbish, acquaintances are read out as dummies.

The book becomes something of an accessory. Readers for some reason think that they are doing something out of the ordinary.

In fact, reading has never been an indicator of the mind. Mind cannot be acquired, it is developed. If there is nothing to develop, you just need to be a good person.

If we separate the wheat from the chaff, then everything is simple - the book, as at all times, can serve as a source of information, but the information is so hidden by the plot and metaphors that not everyone can figure out what the salt is. Fiction shows us the history of mankind in all its splendor.

Why not a movie? There are a huge number of books that are more exciting than the newest films (especially cinematography has been more upsetting lately).

And finally: all archetypes, plots, conflicts, compositions were born in world literature, therefore, knowledge of this literature makes you an educated person: both a director and an astrophysicist should quote Milton, Bocaccio and Chekhov.

From childhood, we are accompanied by various literary works: fairy tales, riddles, stories, poems, novels, plays, and so on. All of them play a huge role in the development of man. Even at an early age, literary works lay in us the basic moral principles and norms. Fairy tales, riddles, parables and jokes teach us to value friendship, to do good, not to offend the weak, to respect parents, to think about our actions. All this is presented in an accessible language for children, so it is quickly and easily remembered by them. That is why the role of literature and books, in general, in human life is enormous. They not only participate in the formation of a person, but constitute the main part of the moral education of each of us.

During the study of school literature, we not only learn new authors, new works, new trends, but also get closer to literature so much that it becomes an integral part of us. The famous teacher V.P. Ostrogorsky said: “A properly and widely educated general aesthetic mood elevates and ennobles a person through the noblest pleasure, which becomes a need. It makes all life attractive and interesting for him, discovering in it, in nature, in man, a wonderful existence, which he had never suspected before ... Thus, this feeling, suppressing egoism in us, takes us out of the daily circle of everyday life, into that at the same time, awakening to bring thought and goodness into this everyday life, it leads you into wide communication with nature, society, homeland, humanity ... All this, taken together, i.e. all these aesthetic relationships to oneself, nature, people, art, society, and creates in a person a special spiritual world with himself, then a good mood, then unity with the world, then a constant striving for spiritual beauty, for serving the common good, for honest labor and the fight against evil - in a word, that which alone constituted human happiness at all times.
In my opinion, these words very deeply and vividly reflect the role of literature and art, in general, in human life. Books teach us to love others and give us real human happiness. That is why people who read books and love literature can feel all the delights of the world around us: to see the beauty of nature, to love and be loved. In addition, thanks to literature, our vocabulary is replenished and the spiritual world is enriched.
Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that literature is very important in human life: it affects our worldview. Forms our inner world, enriches our speech. That is why we should read as much as possible, love and respect the book, because without it our world will be gray and empty.

You can argue on different topics, but when it comes to the meaning of literature in modern society, you can talk about it for a long time, each time revealing amazing conclusions.

We are living in the era of computerization, television and high technology. One click of the key, and you can easily find all the information you are interested in, however, no technical devices can replace people with pleasant hours of communication with books.

Books are our wonderful and faithful friends who are able to enrich our inner world, dispel anxieties, doubts and resentments. For some, it is much easier to watch a movie based on a book of interest, but there may not be interesting, funny and witty expressions that you would like, remember, laugh at and make you think.

Most of all fiction is devoted to man. Her calling is to help us understand what each of us should value in life, in friends and loved ones.

How do people read today?

Employees of the Public Opinion Foundation conducted a survey, the purpose of which was to find out how people relate to literature today. Summarizing the data obtained, we can say that the structure of leisure has changed dramatically over the past decades, and reading books occupies a less prominent place in it, but there is a reading public, and today it has got the opportunity for a wider and more accessible choice of books, which cannot but rejoice.

If we talk about the results of the study, then in relation to reading, the situation is not very favorable, but the experts spoke quite optimistically: “there is less reading, but today they read more meaningfully and seriously.”

Half of the respondents have several dozen publications of fiction at home, and only 4% have no books at all at home.

The answers of those who read in the last year and those who did not read were divided by half.

If we talk about literary and genre preferences, then the most popular is modern domestic literature - 22%, followed by modern foreign literature - 9%, domestic classics - 8%, and foreign classics and Soviet literature - 4%.

About the benefits of reading

The benefits of books are obvious. This is a unique opportunity to broaden your horizons, enrich your inner world, become smarter and train your memory. It is also useful to read books because:

Reading increases the vocabulary of a person, allows you to more clearly formulate your thoughts.

Logical thinking develops, the ability to analyze the information received from books, watching the heroes of books, we learn the basics of psychology.

If you have a depressed mood, the book is an excellent medicine that will help overcome sadness and sadness and take your mind off problems for a while.

What book can be called "good" and useful to read? Firstly, the book should interest and captivate you, and secondly, it should carry a deep meaning, and not be superficial.

If you have not read the books of the school curriculum, then we advise you to start with them. Classical literature of domestic and foreign writers is fascinating and interesting. Pay attention to historical literature: wars, intrigues, fateful decisions and love - all this is not only informative, but also exciting.

Of course, reading the poetry of great authors can be called useful. In works written in verse, there is pain, love, disappointment, joy, comedy and tragedy. In addition to aesthetic pleasure, poetry can enrich our speech with beautiful turns.

Modern literature should not be ignored, of course, it is not as full of talents as in the old days, but among our contemporaries there are authors whose books are worthy and interesting.

Is poetry necessary for modern man?

A person cannot only sleep, eat and work. It is poetry, and indeed art in general, that instills in people a sense of harmony and beauty. Poetry is able to awaken high feelings in people, forcing them to think, engage in self-development, study and work.

If we consider the necessity of poetry from the point of view of personal relationships, then we will come to the conclusion that here we cannot do without it. How nice it is to write poems to your beloved or beloved, to say beautifully and romantically about feelings that overwhelm your soul. Sometimes it's nice to read the works of other authors, experiencing all the emotions embedded in the poems. Definitely, poetry will never become obsolete.

When you are gloomy and not happy about anything,

Picking up a book in the evening is wonderful,

For all people and joy and joy.

Appreciate everything that happened before,

All dots of thought will become a dot.

Like nothing happened

Poetic lines are pleasing to the heart.

Who needs literature today?

Don't let the empty halls of the libraries fool you. A few decades ago, going into the library at any moment, we could see the queue. Today, the book industry is so developed that it is quite possible to buy and read any book without leaving home.

Today, libraries do not play the role of a kind of information provider, but rather act as social institutions whose mission is to unite people and educate them. Increasingly, libraries are opening various literary cafes, children's rooms with educational toys and books, literary and theater clubs, as well as studios where teenagers, under the guidance of teachers, do their homework, prepare for intellectual olympiads, competitions and city events.

As the great writer and poet Maxim Gorky said: “Love a book, it will make your life easier, it will friendly help you sort out the colorful and stormy confusion of thoughts, feelings, events, it will teach you to respect a person and yourself, it inspires the world and heart with a feeling of love for the world. , to the person.

Each person comes into contact with the world of fiction even in early childhood. Without reading skills, we listened to fairy tales from the mouths of our parents. It is the fairy tale that plays the role of the first step on the way of becoming a reader. Then, having familiarized himself with the alphabet, the child independently begins to reproduce the text of his favorite works, remembered from early childhood.

Becoming a reader

As a person grows older, the fiction that he reads also becomes more “adult”. Once, having plunged into the world of works of art, a person becomes its hostage for life. And there is nothing wrong with that, on the contrary, reading literary works elevates a person, opens the way to the world of wisdom and knowledge.

Literature and the reader have gone through a long period on the way of their formation. Originating in ancient times, literature was able to withstand competition from new trends in art - television and cinema, and today is the most important art form.

Literature, fiction and non-fiction

Fiction is one of the varieties of art. It is closely interconnected with other types of art - theater, cinema, music, fine arts. It is works of art that are the basis for the development of these arts.

Fiction covers such genre types as epic, lyrics, drama, lyrical epic.

As we have already understood, next to fiction there is also non-fiction. What is non-fiction? To do this, it is enough to remember the first book you read on your own - a primer. It is the primer that is the first representative of non-fiction literature in human life.

Non-fiction is educational literature, with the help of which we learn the basics of science. At school age - these are textbooks of mathematics, grammar, biology, physics, at a more adult age - scientific articles, works of famous scientists, based on which we acquire a profession.

The role of fiction in human life

It is thanks to works of art that a person, first of all, begins his formation as a person: we begin to understand what the difference between good and evil is, how relationships occur in society, what is the inner world of people.

Thanks to such works of art as epics, epics and myths, we get acquainted with the historical past of the people, their age-old traditions. The touching world of poetic lyrics teaches us to fully reveal our feelings, not to be afraid to express love for our Motherland.

Reading works with the motives of mysticism, we go on an exciting journey together with mysterious heroes, in which together with them we reveal the mysteries of the world around us.

But one should not assume that for a mature personality, fiction is losing its relevance. On the path of life, a person encounters many obstacles, the overcoming of which often occurs due to the guidance of the truths that are laid down by the authors in fiction. Such works accompany a person all his life - from infancy to old age.

Writers of all times and peoples have tried to answer the question: "What place does literature occupy in a person's life?" After all, no matter what work you take, you can see this problem everywhere. The well-known Soviet writer Abramov Fedor Alexandrovich did not bypass her either.

Books and literature play an important role in everyone's life. After all, when reading works, we have the opportunity to travel through the years, through entire epochs, both forward, into the future, and back, into the past, observe various natural beauties, be a witness to interesting and truly exciting events. But everyone knows that the book is not endless, and after reading its content becomes an object for sometimes very lengthy reflections that will certainly lead us to a vital conclusion. It is this fact that makes literature an integral part, a dear companion in our destiny.

He is convinced that it is the only way out, the only salvation for young people in an environment "with increased egocentrism and individualism, with dependent and consumerist attitudes, with the loss of a careful and loving attitude towards the earth, towards nature, with cold rationalism."

And it is simply impossible not to agree with the writer. After all, only literature can help us preserve and increase the spiritual culture that has been accumulated by centuries of folk experience.

And it often happens that a book becomes our closest friend, helper, companion in our difficult life. So, Maxim Gorky in his autobiographical trilogy tells readers about the life of the boy Alyosha, who did not have the opportunity to go to school at all, and therefore books became his only source of knowledge. Reading at night, by the light of a candle, the hero discovered and learned this most interesting world. And very soon Alyosha forgot about loneliness, realized that the book is the only thing that can come to his aid, no matter what situation he finds himself in.

Moreover, in the novel by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov "The Master and Margarita" one can come across beautiful words: "Manuscripts do not burn." After all, works of art are inspired by love and the endless search for the meaning of life, therefore they are ready to rush through the years to find their way to readers and help them distinguish between good and evil, eternal and momentary, truth and lies.

Thus, on the example of the works of just a couple of writers, we have repeatedly seen that literature and books play an important, integral role in our lives, becoming our eternal friends and helping us in everything.
