How to organize concerts in your city? How to organize a group concert? How to organize a charity concert of a star? How to organize the performance of groups at concerts? How to make money organizing concerts.

Hello! IN Lately I took on my band more actively and encountered some problems in organizing concerts. It turns out that when you have a band that can perform at least every day, there are other difficulties. I will tell you about these difficulties and how to deal with them in this short article.

So. The hardest part is over. You have assembled a great team, you easily find a common language with your classmates and together you manage to make cool music. You are rushing and not only you notice it. Great. I must say that only a few reach this stage. Most of them merge along the way: they don’t find musicians, they get tired of starting all over again, they give up music, give up concerts, fuck themselves and those around them for nothing, and so on.

The first way is to sit straight on the priest.

Another 90% of the remaining survivors go this way. This is a great strategy if your plans do not include conquering the world and the Olimpiysky sports complex packed to capacity. I cannot judge such people. Leadership is not for everyone. Eggs are different for everyone. Some have steel, some have papier-mâché. That is why not everyone is able to start their own business and devote their lives to it, preferring to work at work until retirement, where you will face the inevitable collapse of hopes and ambitions, the ultimate drop in your own standard of living and, in general, sheer disappointment in the chosen one. life path. Well, okay, this is all from another article, maybe someday later I will bore on this topic with broader strokes.

Why is the option of sitting on the priest exactly bad? And nothing is bad. Everything is as always - that is, nothing. You have a group, it even seems to be doing something, performing somewhere and sometime, waiting to be invited, fed, watered and put to bed. It doesn't matter if you have records or not. One cynical uncle with a dark past in show business once told me that "nobody just needs songs." And no matter how painfully it beat on pride, I have to agree with him. Even if you have 100% hit, it's not enough. Need a legend vivid image, you need PR, otherwise everything is decay.

Decay is when you are not serious about your music and are not willing to risk everything for it. If you sit and wait for someone to call you to play a concert, you have nothing to live for. Kill yourself and your lazy musicians, make room on the stage for more active guys :) Ok, I didn't mean those for whom music is just a hobby, but the article is not about them either.

Path number 2 is the path of the Jedi.

You have sat enough on your sides in anticipation of a miracle and have already managed to grow fat and gain some immobility and sluggishness in your actions and decisions. What, good news is that you are ready to change. As they say, the maggot realized. We take ourselves by the crown and begin to methodically pull out of our own cozy swamp.

We pass to the main thing.

How to make a concert for your band.

Here is your action plan:

  • We make a list of all clubs, bars, concert halls where theoretically you could organize your gig.
  • We find contacts of art directors and organizers who work in these clubs/bars/restaurants, etc. We write letters to them or call them on the phone if they do not read letters. Find out the layout of the organization of the concert. If someone has problems with competent speech and by letter, trust someone who will not let you down. You need to make the right impression first, and your first question shouldn't sound dumb. It would seem that simple logic, but logic, like literacy, is far from a universal trait.
  • You have received answers to your questions. Someone sent you right away, someone asked "what kind of group is that?" drunken orgies stir up.
  • In case someone didn't understand me, the "percentage of entry" scheme is the best for a beginner. musical project. You bring n-th number of people to the concert, they buy tickets. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales is taken by the club, the rest is yours. Of course, the club still earns from the bar. The more a club makes from a bar, the happier their art director is and the more they want to communicate with you in the future. So, the drinking public is good, no matter how blasphemous it may sound.

  • We supplement our plate with contacts and addresses with information on layouts and prices / conditions. How come you haven't got that sign yet? I'm annoyed.
  • It is useless to ask if it is possible to hold a concert tomorrow. Specify at least a month ahead, preferably 1.5-2. If the site is large - six months ahead. But most likely, this is not your scale yet, so don't worry. When it's their turn, they will call you.

What you will inevitably encounter at the stage of collecting information:

  • Some clubs will refuse you under the pretext of "not the format of our institution", which in fact is complete garbage. There is no such thing as "house format", there is money or losses that you can bring to the club. If your group doesn't have a name (=the art director hasn't heard of you) and you're potentially unprofitable for the club, they'll tell you "goodbye" at the very first stage of communication with them. Sadly. I encountered this when organizing concerts for my gang. But this is no reason to despair. And that's why.
  • Some clubs will offer you to speak on their terms. Someone will give you an evening for a solo concert, and someone may offer to participate in another hodgepodge. Some clubs make concerts themselves and recruit groups for the evening themselves. There are clubs without a name, new establishments that have not yet formed an audience and they grab every opportunity to earn money. You need to work with such establishments. This benefits both you and them. It is useless for a small group to rent the Olympic sports complex if three friends and a couple of family members come to the concert. An equal cooperates with an equal. A simple rule that is generally useful to know and repeat to yourself more often in life.
  • In any case, you must understand 2 simple things

  • Your group is your business. If you're not ready to start treating your music like a business, re-read the point about hitting yourself against the wall.
  • For the club, your performance is their business. They have no euphoria and tenderness from your creative impulses and never will. There is only a dry balance - the box office after the end of the event. There is money in the cash register - everything is ok. A lot of money - zashib. Is the club gone? You didn't bring guests? They paid the bartender/waiter/sound engineer/cleaner/security guard. And you stupidly didn’t even work to zero? What conclusion will the art director of the club make. Right. He doesn't want to work with you anymore. Standing on the carpet at the owner of the establishment, he will report for your fakap, which became his fakap, which became the fakap of the establishment and put the owner on the loot. The law of communicating vessels.
  • Welcome to the entertainment industry!

Yes, I almost forgot about the hodgepodge. There are quite a few such events. they are concerts for 4-7 groups, sometimes more. Everything happens in complete turmoil, it is impossible to adjust the sound, to make a proper impression on the audience with your performance - even more so. The organizers of such festivals often sell tickets to the bands themselves so that they can distribute them further. In general, this is the most pioneering, most terrible option. It is bad because no one here has professionalism, neither the bands, nor the organizers, nor the sound engineer. Everything is complete schoolboy. The output from such events is zero. They do nothing for the image. attraction new audience? Doubtful. I have a bad idea of a person who will trample on such a fest. What for? Drink beer? Therefore, I simply do not consider the option of school matinees, and I immediately send such grief organizers away or put a barrage price on our performance. Questions disappear by themselves.

Learn to be professional. Learn to run your own gigs. Learn to put on your show and keep the listener in suspense. This is much more important than performing in front of a crowd of teenagers who don't care about you. Be very selective about these activities. I won't say they all suck, but for the most part they do.

Concert for 1-2-3 groups is ok. More than 3 is overkill. Or is it already a festival under open sky Invasion type. That is, not yet our format.

So, you have beaten out a date for your SAMI performance. And now the fun begins.

How to fill the hall with people?

You make a poster, make events on facebook and vkontakte, spam all your friends with a message about the upcoming wonderful gig. And you watch how many people express a desire to go to the concert, some part will say "maybe". Most will not care about your concert. A great test of your friends' loyalty.

At this stage, I stop my story, because. I can not give any recommendations about PR events, so far this topic has not been disclosed by me. This is what I've been thinking about the most lately. It is not possible to experiment so often, because. it makes no sense to perform more than once a month, people quickly get tired of your music, and access to a new audience is a difficult thing. If you have any thoughts on this - share in the comments, I will be happy to discuss with you ways to expand the fan base and attract a new audience to my work.

If you think in economic terms, then your group is new brand that you are marketing. The brand must give the consumer some value so that he wants to buy it. Here a lot of questions arise about the formation of the image, naming (yeah, how you called the group is very important), unique trade offer. This also includes work on brand awareness, promotional campaigns, content creation, content promotion. Your content is music, videos, photos and interviews. This also includes direct advertising (posters, flyers, Internet (ppc, smm)) etc. As you can see, this is a rather serious game and, in general, quite expensive. There must be guerrilla methods that will allow you to take the first steps before you break even (break even, break even). What works and what doesn't, you can only learn from your own experience and mistakes. No one wants to burn chips.

I read a lot of articles about the music business. And by and large they are all about nothing. And here's why: a certain undeserved aura of exclusivity and unusualness is attributed to this business. But in fact - the same eggs, only in profile. You are the artist, you are the product. You are responsible for the quality of the product, but in order for it to be bought, it must be promoted. And this is all in textbooks on economics, management and marketing, just in a little different words. There are two ways - to work on demand and to be a group of "Ivanushki". They earn ok, but the music is complete shit. + Such projects have a high monetary threshold for entering the market. In other words, you need to swell a lot of money into promotion at the first stage so that it goes. The second way is to create your brand and your trend little by little. The way of Steve Jobs. The path is difficult and life may not be enough. This is the way creative people. If craft is more important to you, just sell yourself to the producer. Just be prepared that he will choose from hundreds of people just like you. And you may not be the most genetically valuable material.

Respect for reading and patience :) Music is cool. Creating a group is just the beginning.

I don’t know how everything happens in the big cities of our country. I myself am from Petrozavodsk. The Internet is a good mover in this matter, as I think! It all depends on what expanses the group wants to cover ... In the sense of performing in Europe in Russia or somewhere else. ..I'll just express my ideas on this topic... It makes sense to write not only demos, singles, but also videos. available repertoire, pick up a stage image and pump it up, as if you did it at a concert. At the same time, try to show directing talent based on your concept as a whole or turn to someone for help so that it is filmed with soul. After all, for sure, through acquaintances there will be a photographer who can shoot well and he will turn out to be someone’s acquaintance and he will be interested, especially if he didn’t shoot like that and this experience will be for him and mutual assistance is obtained, it is also possible to move with a video operator. In our circle, for example there are such people, thank God. Of course, not for free, but for a democratic price, since people have experience shooting. Yes, it will not be a super duper clip like in popular bands, but it can be done in an acceptable underground quality. And it will be small but a movement that can shoot hard. It all depends on how competently it is to work it all out. It's the same with singles, demos. And post the so-called product on YouTube on social networks wherever possible. This is a very good help! Regarding concerts. The best thing is to get to open for a well-known band, you may have to pay, but it all depends on situations, but you can consider it as an option! Or a concert with two or three unknown bands and a headliner (It also makes sense to participate in incomprehensible hodgepodges only somewhere in beginning, end it will be all shit who plays what there, someone will get drunk, and someone will get bored, because, for example, comrades played before you so that the ears could no longer withstand this mockery). It makes sense to make a banner not big size with the name and logo of the group and hang during your performance over the drum kit or in another place visible to everyone, unless of course the organizer allows you to do this. The problem with sound along the way is not only in our PTZ, but in St. Petersburg, according to my musician friends who went to perform in St. Petersburg Clubs. As for Moscow, I don’t know how it is there. Not everyone has the opportunity to carry a backline with them, and most don’t have it yet ... But it also can’t always save the situation. But a greater percentage of the fact that you still stand out from the rest of the participants and this will attract the attention of the listener. Especially when your device is set up, the sound engineer will set the bypass on his remote control and he will also thank you that he doesn’t need to do anything). Or carry a floor preamp with you, which will save the situation a little ....

I'm trying my hand at promoting a very successful music project and looking for all the information that pertains to it :) Your article shed some light on some remaining questions :)

Maxim, thank you. Much of your article was already clear to me, but I found something useful for myself.

Maxim, thanks. You had to answer, you can understand.)))

Interesting article, Thank you. He drew attention to ".. and together you manage to make cool music.". And how are you convinced of the coolness of your music? Since the early 2000s, to my ears, no one worthy has appeared. In addition, there is a feeling that all niches are occupied, and simply no one wants to deal with young people, and it’s good without them. It remains to be patient.

Still, promotion is promotion, and the quality of the material should be very good. Sadly, on our stage, listenable bands can be counted on the fingers, and those who want to listen to, and even less. And these bands, at best, spend part of their performances abroad, at worst, they stop playing. So, in my opinion, there are two ways: - find a local niche and squeeze all the juice out of it by promotion, image and other non-musical means, while there may be earnings, since the audience will be large here; - be critical of your own music, compare it with foreign music, and ask yourself more often whether you would listen to such music yourself, whether something outstanding or another passing material has really been created. In the second case, with positive answers to all questions, the main thing is to ensure maximum accessibility of the material. As for concert hodgepodges (as it happens in Moscow), I agree. Suitable only for training to perform on stage in bad conditions. But thematic fests attended by the right audience can be a good intermediate step on the way to their own solo concerts.

Intragroup psychology interpersonal relationships, PR, marketing of the pop industry is of course interesting .. But damn it - boring). I thought something when I saw the headline) - That your store ORGANIZES A MEETING-PARTY-CONCERT OF ITS BUYERS!. Where will you play and buyers and in general - We will all have a "club" and a club meeting) - that would be interesting) I would pay for the ticket with pleasure)

I agree with the article, but only partially. Firstly, maybe what was described is suitable for Moscow or St. Petersburg, but since I live on a happy periphery in the city of Krasnoyarsk, such a promotion format will be VERY difficult for us. Of all the groups in our city, only 2 groups can be distinguished that really went along the path solo concerts and promotion of the image and have achieved some kind of recognition. However, the fact remains that for the most part, over the years of existence, they spend more money on music than they earn from it. Secondly, in our city there is only 1 (with a population of a million) club, which constantly hosts concerts of groups playing their own music. Everything else is taverns for labukhs and 90% of musicians make money from this. From time to time there are concerts like Emerjanza or fests, as described in the "hodgepodge" article, but they are wildly cool and the most seasoned bands tend to play there. Therefore, I consider the feature about "not playing hodgepodges" to be ineffective, since the market will always dictate its conditions, and in these conditions you need to perform at every opportunity, ESPECIALLY if it's a cool fest even with 10 bands. And most importantly: I have never seen a single group that plays its own material and that starts earning money from the first concerts, also giving solo albums. To make solo albums in clubs, and even to be visited when you are not known to anyone except your friends, is simply unrealistic. The only way out for this option is to rent a club at your own expense, make advertising at your own expense, pay for small expenses at your own expense, pay for the filming of the performance and parties at your own expense, and everything else ... naturally at your own expense.

If your interests include music, then it can also bring you good profit. Naturally, if this is not limited to an extensive playlist in the player. How to make money on such a hobby? Organize a concert, of course. It could be music Festival Or a solo concert. This activity will not only bring a lot of experience and acquaintances, but can also increase your capital. If you feel that this idea is for you, then we will consider all aspects in order.

And so, there is an idea, there is a desire and aspiration. But where to start? And you should start with the following. It is unlikely that you will go to conquer the capital with only one idea and aspiration. There are enough of them, and they have more money.

You will get your first experience in this business in your city, even if it is just a small provincial town. At this stage, it is worth studying: what kind of music is preferred by the inhabitants (especially young people) of the city. Here you should close your eyes to your opinion on a particular genre, unless, of course, your goal is to make a profit. To do this, it is necessary not only to attend several events, having studied the number of those who came, but also to be close to young people, to study their preferences. Who knows, maybe there are a lot of rock fans in your city who limit themselves to "garage" concerts.

Having decided on the audience, it will not be difficult to find a potential band or singer. Here you can create a poll on social networks and rely on the popularity and originality of the "star". Do not stop at one option, because the stock should always be. But do not rush to invite the performer. Now it is worth thinking about such issues as the venue for the concert and the equipment. Why?
These aspects often become a stumbling block in this business. Either the venue will not be affordable, or there will be no musical equipment.
The platform issue can be resolved as follows. If the city has night club, or something similar, then go there. Such establishments attract more people than palaces of culture. Here you can relax, and the bar is nearby.

It is better to talk with the director of the club, since the manager will not be able to help you in all matters, and it is better to talk about the rental price directly with the owner. But here it is worth showing confidence in your work. Make it clear that the idea is worthwhile and profitable. Without any doubts!

Do not let the interlocutor think that you will run away with money, if you can earn it at all. If everything goes smoothly, then you can even agree that you pay the rent from the money you earn, but this does not always work out. Solve this issue and move on to the next one.

Finding equipment for your concert is a very important part of the process. So let's break it all down. The necessary apparatus varies from genre to genre. And the more complex the execution, the more difficult it is to find a quality device. This is where the knowledge of musical craft comes in especially handy. And if there is no knowledge, then it is best to find a person who can help with this. Do not try to climb into this jungle without any elementary understanding. After all, if there is equipment for club music in any nightclub, then for rock you will have to look for everything from the remote control and amplifiers to drum set. But if there is knowledge (or knowledgeable person), then it will not be difficult to find it. Often musical technique can be found in studios or rehearsal spaces.

Those who know will find them without difficulty. The question will remain small. The services of rental companies will cost much more. Such firms can get you almost anything you want, but for your money.

There is one more point: the technical rider.
Well-known performers do not hesitate to demand the best equipment from the organizer, and you can find a tech-rider on the website of the band or singer. And as already noted: the quality, and therefore the price of the device varies depending on the genre. Of course, if your concert is limited to little-known bands, then what you get in local rehearsal places, studios or even palaces of culture will be enough for them.

It is also important to prepare lighting equipment. You will not find them in the studios, but even the most seedy club has the minimum necessary kit. The rest can be ordered from companies that have already been written about above.

Now you have everything you need to hold a concert, except for the performer. In this case, you should have already stocked up on options. Approaching the issue of invitees is no less subtle. If this famous performer, then the fee will be appropriate, which means that the price of tickets will rise. For small towns, the price is a very weighty argument, and sometimes people can refuse just because of this. To begin with, it is worth thinking about the "hodgepodge" of different performers.

Such a festival will gather a lot of spectators, and musical groups may not be as well known. The fee of those often comes down to paying for travel, and some are ready to work for the idea. So, skill to convince and elementary friendliness will help here. But if you decide to big fish”, then prepare for difficulties. The stars are very picky, and failure to comply with their requirements can cost you a pretty penny.

When all this is done, it may seem that everything is ready. But no. There are, perhaps, two questions left, and if one can be skipped, then without the other you will be nowhere. The first is sponsors. But keep in mind that few people want to give you their money, even if you hang it all over concert venue their advertisement. This question can be addressed as follows. Of course, no one forbids placing an ad in a newspaper, on the Internet, or even just sticking it around the city near large shops or establishments.

However, it is often easier for a sponsor to give you the necessary supplies than their money. So, for a concert, try looking for a sponsor among musical instrument stores. Maybe they will provide some of the equipment. In return, any sponsor will require a promotion from you. Simply put, don't forget to mention it at the concert and attach the logo on the event poster.

There is another type of sponsor - informational. They will help you spread the news about the upcoming concert. These can be local newspapers, the Internet portal of your city, public in the social. networks. Do not forget about the major Internet music portals, which very often place posters in exchange for their logo on it. It is worth recognizing that large sites are visited more often than they read the local newspaper. Here we come to the last moment - advertising. What is written above is a very important part of the advertising campaign. But that's not all.

Do not be stingy to print posters and stick them around the city. Just do not trust this business to hired posters - you fool yourself. Walk around the city. Offer to place posters in shops or cafes. Suitable and educational establishments if the event is cultural enough. Since we live in a modern world, do not forget to create a concert page on the Internet. It doesn't have to be a website. A page on a social network is enough. By the way, this is very convenient way and distribution of advertising, and monitoring the activity of people.

Having done all this, it remains to draw up an exact plan for the event. Coordinate it with the speakers and the director of the club. Do not forget to think about who will lead the event, especially if there are many groups and they will need to be presented to the public. Finding a leader is not difficult. Advertise in the newspaper and post on the Internet. The management of the club will be able to help you with this question. Do not forget to prepare texts for the presenter. Some of them can be obtained from the performers themselves.

On the day of the concert, it's a good idea to arrive early at the scene. So you can manage all the preparations. The sound engineer, whom you will receive as a load for any device, even from a tenant company, even from a local studio, will have to rebuild the device. The sooner he starts it, the better. After all, various small problems take place.

Before the start of the concert, take the time to carefully inspect the site with a representative of the club. It is advisable to record the inspection in a special act, because all the damage that may occur during the concert will fall on your shoulders and wallet.

Don't forget to personally greet the performers. Consider the wishes of the artists. Some, for example, may need a dressing room or a room where they can accommodate musical instruments.

Payments will be made after the concert. And don't despair if your first gig doesn't pay off too much. Even if you were able to recoup it by recovering all the costs (i.e., going into the plus), then you should already rejoice, because you have gained a lot of experience, new acquaintances and connections. And all this will definitely help you in organizing concerts in the future.

    Back Forward -

The ability to organize an event is an important skill for everyone. modern man. For a musician, a concert is the main format of his work and a source of income. Many creative people resort to the help of professionals. Agents and managers know how to properly organize an advertising campaign, find resources, and sell tickets. And the task of the artist is to light the hall with his inspired creativity. In the history of art, a natural symbiosis of a musician and a manager has developed.

I see the goal, I believe in myself

The simplest option - you want to introduce your friends to your music. How to organize concerts in this case? The easiest way is to hold a flat. Home concerts were very popular in the USSR in the second half of the last century. Moscow and St. Petersburg rockers did not get along with official culture and were forced to act secretly.

Home concert, or Back to the USSR

In those days, there were traditions of the apartment house. Several musicians played acoustic instruments. No sound equipment was used. There were few spectators. They could talk freely with the musicians, and often the concerts turned into a feast or just friendly communication.

Today, it is possible to use sound recording equipment within the framework of apartment buildings. And the speakers and amplifiers will disrupt public order and interfere with the neighbors. The exception is private households. No official permission, no hall rent, no advertising, no expenses at all are needed to hold a house party. Enough free space, which one of your friends will provide free of charge. There is only one minus of the apartment house - the lack of income.

    Help from a non-profit organization

How to organize concerts if you need to raise money for a good cause? Need a small amount urgently? Reach out to friends and acquaintances. But instead of simply asking for a loan, organize a concert-feast in your apartment. Let it be a little party. Tell the audience about your problem or arrange a presentation of the project. Set up a money box. It should look bright and attract attention. For those who prefer electronic payments, bank details should be printed. Hang the leaflet in a conspicuous place, and also distribute to each of those present.

Consider how your friends can control your spending. They need to understand where their money will go. How to organize concerts for charities and non-profit organizations? Here a simple apartment house is not enough. It is necessary to raise a lot of funds. Therefore, a competent advertising campaign is needed.

    What to show the viewer

Define the target audience. Studies show that people of all ages and social classes donate to charity, but most of all - young men and women after forty. Both categories of citizens belong to the middle class. Unfortunately, these are completely different target audiences. It is not possible to create a common advertising campaign for them.

How to organize a charity concert and define your target audience? Do your own research. Start with an experiment. Try to hold a promotion in the main square of the city. She may look different. Hand out booklets and free artist demos to passers-by. Entertain walking people, and they will be grateful for it. You can arrange a small auction. Selling handmade toys, unfussy drinks, calendars, magnets and other small items will attract the attention of the townspeople.

    Target audience and repertoire

Pay attention to who donates the most. You can involve a special observer in the study. This is how you define your target audience. Such an advertising campaign requires a lot of investment. To avoid this, try to attract volunteers.

Studied. But how to organize a concert? The next step is the image and repertoire of the artists. Explore the musical tastes of your future viewers. To do this, it is enough to monitor social networks. Pay attention to profile communities. For example, ladies gather in groups dedicated to family, children, and culinary recipes. Check what other communities they are in, whether they post music. Bikers, hipsters, yuppies, as well as representatives of other subcultures and social strata of society have their own groups.

    Speech structure

Musical tastes target audience studied. Before organizing a concert, introduce the artists to the repertoire. Together with the musicians, make a list of songs in a certain order. Do not forget that concert numbers must be contrasting - a fast work will certainly be followed by a slow one. Include performances by artists of other genres: dancers, comedians, circus performers. Men's numbers must alternate with women's. Do not forget that such an event does not last more than one hour. Don't take breaks between sections. Otherwise, after the intermission, you will not count the number of spectators.

The image of the musicians and the tasks of the producer

Attention should be paid to the appearance of the artists. If you are interested in how to learn how to organize concerts, take care not only of the costumes and make-up of the group, but also of their manner on stage. For a young audience, abrupt movements and extravagant appearance musicians. Older viewers won't like it. They will appreciate the calm and contemplative mood of the event. In addition, you need to take care of renting high-quality sound equipment, hiring professional lighting technicians, and even supervise the cleaning of the auditorium.

How to organize concerts? It's difficult enough. Popular among managers and organizers popular expression: "If you want everything to be good - do it yourself." This wise aphorism fixes main problem all leaders. Finding responsible performers is one of the most difficult tasks. Therefore, the organizer needs assistants who control different areas of work. It is desirable that you have complete trust in these people.

As you know, creativity and discipline are incompatible concepts. Exceptions to this rule are rare. Artists can cause a lot of trouble. Do you want to know how to organize concerts in your city? Succeed in the field of production. Earn money for yourself and artists. And then you will be contacted best musicians. Of these, the most talented and disciplined should be chosen. Then success is guaranteed.

    Where to hold a concert

A separate problem is the rent of the hall. It's good if the city has a Palace of Culture, a club, a stadium, a philharmonic society or something like that. And you have money for rent. If there is no professional concert hall, you need to turn on your imagination. Do you want to know how to organize a concert of a rock or pop band? needs a rehearsal room. Most likely, the group already has a capacious garage or warehouse where they regularly meet. You can ennoble this room and hold a concert there. Each city has a large warehouse or production workshop. It needs to be cleaned well. And then it's perfect for a rock performance.

How to organize a group concert, the practice of holding festivals will tell contemporary art. Often they are on the territory of abandoned factories and factories decorated in the loft style. Huge rooms have almost no partitions. Functional areas are distinguished only by meager decorations. Musical performances take place in a small hall. There are also exhibitions of installations, souvenir stalls and fast food sheds. Try to adopt this practice. Lease part of the premises to merchants. To do this, you need to have official permission. To get it, you have to work hard. But you are guaranteed a profit.

    To lead is to foresee

It is good to organize the sale of discs with the group's records at the entrance to the hall. If the group is known only in your city, it is likely that their music is not yet available on the Internet. It's just that no one has been able to download it. Therefore, fans will be happy to buy their favorite songs. Holding a concert in an abandoned production facility can cause some problems. For example, there may be no outlets for connecting audio equipment. All possible problems must be carefully studied long before the start of the concert. And try to eliminate them. A good manager anticipates everything possible difficulties in advance.

    distinguished guests

How to organize a concert of a star? And what is the cap on the fee? Such questions are often asked by young art directors of numerous nightclubs, which today appear in every city like mushrooms after rain. Novice managers should be aware that the costs will not be limited to the star's fee.

Large funds will be spent on the relocation of the artist and his team, as well as on accommodation. The star will not stay in a cheap hotel and eat in the dining room. There is no guarantee that you will make a profit. It is more likely that there will be losses. Another difficulty is drafting a contract. It should be entrusted to an experienced lawyer who has worked with such documents before. This is another expense item.

The artist's fee may vary depending on the circumstances. Great importance has the date of the concert. For example, the amount of payments increases several times. Much depends on the time the artist is on stage and the number of songs he has to perform. The number of viewers and density are taken into account tour schedule stars. The larger they are, the more expensive the concert will cost the customer. If you still decide to invite a star, you should book performance dates in advance and coordinate them with the musician. Clear organization is the key to the success of the event.

Hello! Lately I've been more involved with my band and I've run into some problems organizing gigs.

That is why not everyone is able to start their own business and devote their lives to it, preferring to work at work until retirement, where you will face the inevitable collapse of hopes and ambitions, the ultimate drop in your own standard of living and, in general, sheer disappointment in the chosen life path.

We need a legend, we need a bright image, we need PR, otherwise everything is decay.

Well, the good news is that you are ready to change. As they say, the maggot realized. We take ourselves by the crown and begin to methodically pull out of our own cozy swamp.

We pass to the main thing.

How to make a concert for your band.

    Here is your action plan:

  • We are compiling a list of all clubs, bars, concert halls where you could theoretically organize your gig.
  • We find contacts of art directors and organizers who work in these clubs/bars/restaurants, etc. We write letters to them or call them on the phone if they do not read letters. Find out the layout of the organization of the concert. If someone has trouble speaking and writing well, trust someone who doesn't let you down. You need to make the right impression first, and your first question shouldn't sound dumb. It would seem that simple logic, but logic, like literacy, is far from a universal trait.
  • You have received answers to your questions. Someone sent you right away, someone asked "what kind of group is that?" drunken orgies stir up.
  • In case someone didn't understand me, the "percentage of input" scheme is the best for a beginning musical project.

Attracting a new audience?

Or is it already an open-air festival like Invasion.

If you think in economic terms, then your group is a new brand that you are promoting to the market. The brand must give the consumer some value so that he wants to buy it. Here a lot of questions arise about the formation of the image, naming (yeah, how you called the group is very important), a unique selling proposition.

This is the path of creative people.

Or a concert with two or three unknown bands and a headliner (It also makes sense to participate in incomprehensible hodgepodges only somewhere at the beginning, at the end it will be all shit who plays what, someone gets drunk, and someone gets bored, because, for example, comrades played before you so that the ears could not stand this mockery). It makes sense to make a banner of a small size with the name and logo of the group and hang it over the drum kit or in another place visible to everyone during your performance, if the organizer allows it, of course. If you have to your music to anyone's taste, so as not to ask the question - "What kind of group is this?" The problem with the sound along the way is not only with us at PTZ, but in St. Petersburg, according to my friends, musicians who went to perform in St. Petersburg Clubs. I don’t know how it is. Not everyone has the opportunity to carry a backline with them, and most do not have it yet. ..But it also cannot always save the situation. But a greater percentage of the fact that you will nevertheless stand out from the rest of the participants and this will attract the attention of the listener. that he doesn’t need to do anything).

Interesting article, thanks.

They are only suitable for training to perform on stage in bad conditions. But thematic fests attended by the right audience can be a good intermediate step on the way to their own solo concerts.

Intra-group psychology of interpersonal relations, PR, marketing of the pop industry is of course interesting ..

Of all the groups in our city, only 2 groups can be singled out, which really took the path of solo concerts and image promotion and achieved some kind of recognition.

For many people, the organization of concerts seems to be a very easy task - the “stars” arrived, played, received money, the owner of the premises received part, the performer(s) received part, the rest went to the organizer. All. However, the work of the latter is associated with the solution a large number tasks, and this is not only finding a venue, but also providing the concert with everything necessary - from lighting equipment to a hotel for musicians. The organizer assumes responsibility for the fact that the event will not only take place, but will also be properly organized and include everything necessary. At its core, the organizer is the person who has nothing but the offer of his work. Considering that not a single participant wants to deal with such a global issue, the services of concert organizers are quite in demand. And at the first stages, you can do this business almost alone.

    Increasing sales without investment!

"1000 Ideas" - 1000 ways to stand out from the competition and make any business unique. Professional kit for developing business ideas. trending product 2019.

This niche is relatively busy, so it will certainly be difficult for a beginner to take his place. The main limitation is pop culture, the performers who have gained popularity today are already supervised by fairly large firms, and in this case it is unlikely that they will be able to take over the work. And here they won't even help anymore profitable terms– neither the musicians nor their producers want to take risks by contacting an unknown firm. In this case, it is better to start with the organization of concerts for the time being, no one famous bands who want to go on stage, and there are many opportunities if you approach your business in the right way. Also, everything depends on the degree of activity of the organizer, if he does not wait until they come to him for services, but looks for clients on his own, then he can count on success. It is worth noting that the scheme of work, depending on many factors, may differ slightly.

In order to start your own business, it is worth registering as a subject entrepreneurial activity. The form of entrepreneurship can be any, although clients will be much more willing to work with a legal entity, and both partners and landlords will be more confident in it. However, according to the law, you can stay individual by registering as individual entrepreneur. Of the legal entities, the form of a limited liability company is preferable - as well as in the case of an individual entrepreneur, a simplified taxation system is available in this case, which allows deducting 6% (of income) or 15% (of operating profit) to the state.

Registration of a legal entity will be somewhat longer, will require more significant investments, and the document flow in this case is more serious. In general, if several people come together to organize a business, then they need to issue entity, otherwise, with the business of one person, it is worth calculating future plan to determine the form of entrepreneurship. It is also important to correctly specify OKVED codes, and similar activities fit the coding (OKPD 2) 93.29 Other entertainment and recreation services.

It is desirable to have your own premises, it will become a place where hired employees work and negotiations are held with clients. However, work can be established without your own office, which often acts simply as a representative office. But this increases the prestige of the institution in the eyes of partners. But in any case, the room does not have to be large, unless you plan to store props for concerts. Some companies also organize their own printing house for printing posters and leaflets, but this is not always economically feasible.

The work can be carried out in two directions: organizing an ordered concert and organizing a concert with an invitation to performers. In the first case, these will be their own concerts of groups and musicians, in the second - festivals and combined concerts, where teams of a similar genre, theme, or generally simply focused on certain category listeners. Each entrepreneur decides which one to choose for himself, but no one forbids doing both at the same time. Only the second type of organizing concerts is an order of magnitude more complicated than the first and requires significant experience in this area and the ability to attract many performers. Therefore, it is better to start with organizing concerts for specific groups, and only after that start doing your own festivals. They can bring much more profit, as sometimes they last several days, not a couple of hours, but they also require a much more serious approach. Moreover, almost all the risks fall on the organizer himself, because he acts as the instigator of the event.

So, for your work, it is immediately desirable to find partners who are ready to provide their venues for the needs of concerts. However, in big cities it is unlikely that it will be possible to agree on a permanent provision of the stage - there are many others who want to use the leased space. Therefore, each time, most likely, the site will have to be found and negotiated with the owners each time it is needed. But this does not mean that this issue should not be dealt with directly before preparation for the expected event, it is necessary to have a list of possible objects, as well as keep information about their workload. In this case, at least informal a good relationship it is very desirable to establish a relationship with the owner of the site, this will allow you to negotiate a lease as soon as necessary.

    Ready-made ideas for your business

But it should be noted that the requirements for the premises of all artists are different, and therefore you need to have several options in mind - from relatively inexpensive to elite halls with a large number of spectators. Depending on the format of the concert, the types of venues are also selected: we can give a conditional example that for symphonic music you need a hall with seating, but for a rock concert, a platform with a simple dance floor is enough. Therefore, the latter are often organized in sports arenas or assembly halls. Music lovers will rarely deny themselves the pleasure of attending a concert of their favorite band just because it takes place in an “inconvenient” institution in their opinion, but otherwise the consumer can draw a lot of conclusions only from where the event takes place.

Recently, events held in clubs have become very popular, and this option is attractive to listeners, as a rule, the musicians themselves like it, and the organizer greatly simplifies the work, because in clubs, unlike the same sports arenas, there are already lighting and sound equipment. And therefore, the increased cost of renting a club for one evening is compensated by the absence of the need to rent part of the equipment. Moreover, many concerts are held in weekdays(when the club does not work or works in a slightly different format, a bar, for example) and therefore it is much easier to negotiate a discount.

    Ready-made ideas for your business

The cost of sites varies greatly and depends on many factors. The most important thing is the location, then comes the size, format, the possibilities of additional equipment, the popularity of the place. All this should be taken into account by the organizer, and this is all interesting for producers and musicians. They can refuse to give a concert if there is no venue worthy in the opinion of the artists, and here we are talking primarily about profit, and not about its prestige. And the organizer himself is probably interested in the arena bringing as much more money why so many famous musicians they don’t come to smaller cities: the point is not only that the population will not be able to buy expensive concerts, but sometimes vice versa, that there will be plenty of people who want to, but their venue will not accommodate, and its accommodation possibilities are unlikely to cover even their own expenses.

The next step is to find sponsors for your event. At this stage, there are many options for cooperation, up to the fact that the sponsors independently conduct an advertising campaign (though only in the channels available to them) and supply the organizer with the necessary capacities: printing house, equipment, personnel, ticket distribution. In principle, any partner can act as a sponsor, except for the musicians themselves with their producer or label. A rare sponsor gives money directly to the organization, usually it is a barter, when some kind of assistance is provided for the placement of their logo, the message about the sponsor at the event and the conduct of promotions.

Sometimes it is even more beneficial for the organizer, because the sponsor has the opportunity to avoid using third-party companies, and then the costs are reduced due to the partner's advertising. Sponsor logos are usually placed on posters and banners - this is almost always required condition cooperation. With a successful mutual settlement, sponsorship can turn out to be very good savings or obtaining additional funds. True, when organizing concerts of little-known bands or just a concert that is not very popular with the population, some companies that are good in terms of sponsorship may refuse to cooperate or set very unfavorable conditions.

Sponsors will have to sell the future event, and their main criterion, as a rule, for them is the number of visitors. In addition, serious requirements are placed on the advertising campaign itself; but it should be large enough and for the benefit of the organizer. The most common, though a little outdated, but still effective method advertising - posting posters on specially provided places and placing banners around the city. This is usually done by advertising agencies that have sufficient connections and cooperation agreements to provide information about the upcoming event throughout the city. Still, personal posting of posters is already gradually being replaced by more advanced and modern methods. If you have your own site, then, of course, it is worth posting information on it, although the site of the organizer is usually his business card for partners, and not for concert visitors, for them all information about the event is posted on their portal by the ticket distributor.

    Ready-made ideas for your business

Next, you should negotiate with companies that are ready to rent and supply lighting and sound equipment. As already noted, some venues themselves have it, in some (for example, in themed clubs) everything is usually ready for any concert - come and play. But more often you have to find companies that rent equipment, negotiate the delivery, installation and subsequent removal. The equipment itself is paid for either in packages (that is, for example, a complete set for jazz concert), or ordered separately, and the rental of each device is paid separately. In addition to the standard light, you can get hold of laser, fiery or some other spectacular show(and you will have to hire the appropriate workers), and the sound is selected depending on the genre and features of the game (and even the concert itself) of the musicians. So, Symphony Orchestra plays live, but a rock band will require amplifiers, sophisticated electronics, a drum set, bringing only guitars with them (and even then not always). Therefore, already at this stage, it is necessary to have not only a contract concluded with the group or their producer, but also to discuss the exact concept of the event.

The next step is to find a ticket distributor. Some companies even combine this activity - the distribution of tickets and the organization of concerts, but strictly speaking this is completely different companies. It is practically impossible to sell a large number of tickets without having all the possibilities, which is why an agreement is concluded with a company that will ensure the sale of concert tickets for a commission. You will have to cooperate very closely with this office, because it will partially take over the responsibilities in conducting advertising, it will be she who will accept money for tickets, which means that special demands must be made from her strict accountability. It will not work to sell tickets only at the box office of the site (which may not be available), we need a well-established scheme.

Negotiations with the musicians themselves take place either personally or through their producer - this is always the case, if there is one. The promoted group will present great amount requirements for their visit to a particular city, they need a hotel, food, as well as accommodation props. Usually it is brought immediately to the site, where all the preparations take place in a few hours (less than a day). Thus, in addition to agreements with many companies that provide the event, you will have to agree with organizations that will provide services to the musicians themselves, and this is a prerequisite for artists before visiting the city - so that everything is arranged by the organizer himself. Thus, such a scheme usually involves a huge number of enterprises, between which the organizer runs and tries to launch this rather cumbersome scheme.

It is better to start with little-known groups, acting as a replacement for the producer for them, but in this case it is optimal to find several young talented groups and arrange either a combined concert (that is, including several teams similar in genre) or a local festival. True, in the latter case, sometimes the bet is not on the sale of tickets (and admission may even be free), but on the sale additional services at the festival. It comes down to the fact that the organizer simply rents out places at the festival to sellers who profit from the large number of people in one place. Many novice teams are sometimes ready to speak only for an idea, wanting to make themselves known to the world, and do not require any part of the proceeds from the organizer. But here, too, he takes a big risk, organizing an event that no one will probably come to (usually, of course, friends and relatives invited by the musicians themselves come, but this does not save the situation). It’s worth starting with very local events, when you don’t have to risk large amounts of money and there is an opportunity, if not to make a profit, then at least to gain experience.

A lot of time will pass before it will be possible to work individually for each team at its suggestion; usually eminent musicians work only with big players who can as soon as possible organize an event (and sometimes even the whole tour), raise a lot of money and start selling a few months before the concert. Beginners in this case are not taken into account. Festivals, in the usual sense of the word, can be full-fledged if they are located in a convenient place, surrounded by the necessary infrastructure, interesting for visitors, and a sufficient number of well-known teams perform at them. Events designed for many days are usually beyond the power of a novice player; but come up with your own new format no one forbids.

The business of organizing concerts will certainly be very difficult at first, and for a long time you will have to work for the idea yourself, investing your strength (and sometimes money) just to make a name for yourself. However, in this case, there are quite a lot of prospects, because, having managed to establish an organization ideally at all stages, you can successfully compete even with famous companies which, it is possible, have shortcomings in one area or another.
