How Viktor Tsoi bought his first guitar. What did Soviet rock musicians play? Tsoi's guitars What kind of guitar did Viktor Tsoi play

1. Tsoi's first performance in Kyiv ended in deportation to Moscow. In the 84th, the not-so-famous Tsoi and the already famous Mike Naumenko played "kvartirnik" (in a house not far from the capital's prosecutor's office). The concert interrupted the visit of the district police officer. The owner of the apartment managed to hide the cassette with the recording - otherwise, Tsoi, for sure, would have soldered "illegal labor activity."

2. Viktor Tsoi could not stand the sight of blood. In the 83rd, he tried to hang out from the army in the famous St. Petersburg psychiatric hospital on the Pryazhka river.

“There it was necessary to mow down under the TIR, manic-depressive psychosis. Cut veins and so on- recalls the ex-guitarist of "Kino" Yuri Kasparyan. — They took it with it. They somehow arranged with their acquaintances that they would take him, but the veins still had to be cut. And Choi could not stand blood. Finger prickthis was already a problem, especially since the man played the guitar. And hereto cut their veins! ... In general, they called an ambulance, the doctors arrived, and Tsoi was sitting so pink, there were some small scratches on his hands. Well, they took it anyway!».

By the way, "On the Buckle" Tsoi composed a song with the non-random name "Tranquilizer".

3. According to almost everyone who knew him personally, Tsoi was neither arrogant, noisy, nor, moreover, an aggressive person. Which did not stop him from becoming a fan of Bruce Lee, rewatching Enter the Dragon dozens of times, copying the movements, poses and even the facial expression of his idol.

4. Choi was very shy. “And in terms of women, and in general,- recalls close friend Victor and the first Kino guitarist Alexei Rybin in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets. — But this again comes from Soviet life: Vitya was humiliated because of his nationality. What kind of phrases have we heard from the pubs about him! Of course, this made it closed. He was teased at school, then the gopniks molested us on the street. ”.

5. In 1986, despite the Chernobyl disaster, the Kino group came to Kyiv to star in the film The End of the Holidays - thesis young director Sergei Lysenko. It is generally accepted that this film launched Tsoi's film career, although "close sources" claim that he was pretty depressed that "the film turned out to be such shit."

6. Tsoi was fond of woodcarving. He was first shown on TV in the Monitor program as a gifted woodcarver. Choi was especially fond of making Japanese traditional figurines - netsuke - from wood. Then he gave away these miniature sculptures to friends and acquaintances.

7. Choi loved to draw. His friends say they were grotesque images that were close to fantasy and cartoons.

8. On the famous Kamchatka, Tsoi became a high-class stoker. But many friends say he wasn't that much of a workaholic.

From the memoirs of the same Rybin: “Vitka was a terrible lazy person! Like all of us. Just writing songs wasn't hard for him. He did it in between. In general, Tsoi's favorite pastime was lying on the couch. I remember, I come, and he, with his legs up, with Belomor in his teeth, reads a book..

9. Viktor Tsoi was interested Russian stage. He knew by heart several songs of Mikhail Boyarsky and once went to the SKK for a concert by Valery Leontiev.

10. Anatoly Sokolkov, the head of that same Kamchatka, says:

“He said to himself: “I am a mysterious oriental man.” The song "Kamchatka" was written much earlier than Tsoi got here. He wrote a purely phonetic text, he liked the word. When he got a job, everything came together.”.

11. Song " good night» Tsoi wrote in Kyiv. From the tenth floor of the hotel "Slavutich" opened beautiful view to the city - they say that this landscape and the mood that prevailed in Kyiv inspired Tsoi to write“I have been waiting for this time, and now this time has come. / Those who were silent ceased to be silent. / Those who have nothing to look forward to, get into the saddle, / they can’t be overtaken, they can’t be overtaken anymore ”.

12. There is a version according to which the word "Assa" was made by such a pop-cultural symbol not by Solovyov and not by Grebenshchikov, but by Tsoi. One of the first sound producers in the USSR, Andrei Tropilo, recalls that “In his opinion, the main thesis Soviet culture in general and various youth actions in particular should be expressed by the word "ACCA!".

“When they recorded “Night” or “Head of Kamchatka”, communication was very difficult. Why? Constant feeling of insanity. You are doing something with one performer, while others, including Tsoi and Kasparyan, are constantly moving, jumping, demonstrating karate techniques to each other. They waved their hands all the time. And when they constantly wave their hands above your head, it's rather unpleasant. I had this word "assa" constantly behind my back. They continuously demonstrated this "ass" to each other. Kick in the jaw or something else".

13. Biographers like to emphasize that Tsoi's undeniably favorite color was black, but this is not entirely true. This color prevailed in stage costumes, but in life, Viktor Tsoi liked to dress brightly and adored yellow(in the East - a symbol of eternity). Tsoi's favorite flowers are yellow roses.

14. Viktor Tsoi and the Kino group managed to give four concerts in the West: in Denmark, Italy and twice in France.

15. The people who surrounded the Kino group on tour note their phenomenal return. Leaving backstage after the concert, Tsoi almost always fell down in exhaustion and lay motionless on the floor for ten minutes. He came to his senses, because on stage he always gave all the best.

History is full of great guitarists we know and love, we follow their work and learn to play their music. In fact, creating something out of nothing by pulling the music out of your imagination and giving it to the world, so that combinations of sounds have never been heard before, is a special kind of magic! And any musician will tell you that they would be lost without their favorite apparatus. Perhaps this is why many iconic guitarists have played the same instrument throughout their careers. Some for reasons of comfort and efficiency, while others are completely inseparable from their guitar, and thus we begin to associate the instruments with their famous owners.

Vladimir Vysotsky

There are few people not only in our country, but abroad, whoever is familiar with the work of the Soviet bard and actor Vladimir Vysotsky. He went down in history thanks to the unique style of singing and lyrics with humorous street jargon under seven-string guitar. First famous instrument Vysotsky acquired after the death of Alexei Wild ( Soviet actor) from his wife and according to his stories, it was made 150 years ago by an Austrian master. Subsequently, Alexander Shulyakovsky made four or five guitars for him, the first with a headstock in the form of a lyre. In addition, Vladimir had a guitar with two necks, which he really liked for its unusual shape, although he did not use the second neck.

Viktor Tsoi

One more outstanding personality national culture of the 20th century is Viktor Tsoi. He is known to everyone as a songwriter and founder of the rock band "Kino". Victor received his first guitar from his mother as a gift - it was a twelve-string. It was on it that almost all the hits of the group were written and acoustic concerts were played. The next to appear was an electric guitar - a Stratocaster brought from America. But when he saw a white Yamaha at Kasparyan, he began to dream of the same and even tried to change with him. Soon, Tsoi managed to purchase a white Washburn EA20 semi-acoustic system, on which he played in last years life.

Jimi Hendrix

the greatest virtuoso guitarist of all time, Jimi Hendrix can rightly be considered, since even during his lifetime he was called a genius and a phenomenon. At one time, Hendrix's live performances were among the best in the world, and to this day, many guitarists try to emulate him. Now everyone knows that Jimi was left-handed, but bought right-handed instruments, because they were mostly sold only, and he could turn the guitar upside down and achieve a unique sound. Perhaps his most famous was the Fender Stratocaster, it was her who was set on fire at one of his concerts in 1967. From mid-1967 until January 1969, he used a Gibson Flying V, which he painted psychedelic patterns on immediately after purchase and played only a few compositions on it. He also had an acoustic one - Martin D-45. My favorite electric guitar was the white Fender Strat.

Kurt Cobain

American guitarist and vocalist of the rock band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain (Kurt Donald Cobain) throughout the entire career of the group had a fair share of guitars, periodically breaking them, but only two models became favorites: Fender Jaguar and Mustang. And instead of choosing one, he made a collage of both, and from his sketch, the Fender company created the Jag-Stang, although he rarely used it. After Kurt's death, she passed to Peter Buck (R.E.M.).

Angus Young

The inimitable Angus McKinnon Young, famous for his energetic performance and uniform of a schoolboy in AC / DC, was faithful to only one Gibson SG model ("70 SG Standard - 1968). Later it was modified by order of Young by Jaydee company with the name Jaydee SG and was highlighted in red with a lightning bolt inlay on the fretboard. Thanks to close collaboration with Gibson, the signature electric guitar, Angus Young SG, was released, where the pickups were designed by Young himself.

Ritchie Blackmore

Hard rock star and founding member deep purple, Richie Blackmore, remembered by many for his ability to mix guitar riffs with organ sounds, played a Gibson ES-335 for a long time. But since 1968 he began to use the Fender Stratocaster, and when recording the Fender Telecaster Thinline. In the 70s, the main guitar was a white Fender Olympic Stratocaster with a rosewood and cleaved fingerboard, to the headstock of which Richie attached a straplock.

The Beatles

And finally, the immortal Beatles and their outstanding guitars. Among the many instruments of the Liverpool Four, John Lennon's Epiphone Casino electric guitar was most remembered by fans. However, it is revered in two different incarnations: many love it in its original status -1965 Epiphone Casino in vintage sunburst, others admire the "Revolution-era" that appeared after some modifications (worn body). George Harrison is known to have had a fondness for Gretsch guitars, but is associated with a 1963 Rickenbacker 12-string given by the company's owner while on tour of the United States. Paul McCartney played a left-handed Hofner 500/1 bass guitar, as well as Epiphone Casino and Fender Esquire electric guitars and acoustic parts on an Epiphone Texan FT-79, since 1968 a Martin D-28.

Petersburg musician makes an art object out of Tsoi's guitar (photo)

ST. PETERSBURG, 29 October. Musician Sergei Yelgazin is engaged in the restoration of the guitar of the leader of the Kino group Viktor Tsoi.

As Sergey Yelgazin told the Rosbalt correspondent, he started restoration about three or four days ago.

"Now, since the authenticity is gone, appearance The guitar turned out to be not so hot - cracks in the body. There is an idea to turn Tsoi's guitar into an art object, says Elgazin. - I sent out various artists who knew the musician, a request to take part in the action - to depict a portrait of Tsoi on the guitar. And Alexey Sergienko answered me - the artist who made a series of works dedicated to the leader of the Kino group. He is just painting a portrait of Tsoi. And he offered to transfer it to the guitar. I will restore everything except the soundboard, and on it he will draw a portrait."

The guitar is 30 years old. It was presented to Sergei Elgazin by Tsoi's friends at a time when Elgazin was a co-owner of the Kamchatka club. “I played it, and a few years ago I turned to Tsoi’s son and asked him to write a paper that I was its keeper. And he wrote to me, there is also permission for restoration,” Yelgazin said.

The musician emphasized that this guitar was his working instrument, he performed with it at all concerts. After restoration, he will play it again.

"There are people who believe that it was necessary to leave everything as it is. Put the pieces of the guitar under glass. But, firstly, there is no Tsoi museum, and there is nowhere to put the guitar. Secondly, in the Kamchatka Museum there is a guitar that lies under glass in a terrible state, and this instrument will play, continuing the work of Tsoi ... If it were Tsoi's only guitar, the question would be different, but the point is that there are a lot of guitars he played. that I will make one of them a working tool, Tsoi's glory will not suffer. This is more correct than filling things with mothballs, "said Yelgazin.

The main researcher of the history of rock music in LiveJournal - soullaway , discovered a photo from the 1980s: Viktor Tsoi in an American music store. In general, I was occupied with the question for a long time: what did they play Soviet rock musicians in those years. Decided to do some research on the subject.

I’ll start with Tsoi - especially since he has a birthday today. I shoveled through concert photos and I was able to identify some guitars.

Let's start with a simple one - perhaps the most popular electric guitar in the world: Fender Stratocaster.

However, this may be Fender, A Squier This is Fender's economy brand. Professional musician it’s not solid to play on such, but I think in the USSR in those years it was quite cool.

At least Grebenshchikov on the famous " Music ring"In 1986, he played on the" Square ".

Quite famous photo:

The company is listed on the deck: ibanez, but the model could not be identified.

And the guitar Kramer Ferrington

Another guitar from the last - Washburn A.E..

Everything that was above was already perestroika times, the second half of the 1980s, when it was probably already possible to get imported guitars. And the following photos are from the first half of the 1980s.

In many photos, Tsoi appears with a 12-string acoustic Leningrad factory musical instruments them. Lunacharsky.

By the way, Kasparyan in this photo - Yamaha SG

Here's a very early photo:
