Alexander Grigorievich Tikhanovich is a Soviet pop singer of Belarusian origin, a former soloist of the popular Verasy group. People's Artist of Belarus.

Tikhanovich Alexander Grigorievich was born in Minsk on July 13, 1952. The singer recalled that he was raised by an elderly woman who was hired by her parents. Alexander became interested in music when he studied at a military school.

Alexander Tikhanovich in his youth

Tikhanovich learned that children who are in a brass band may not attend some classes. Alexander became interested in this circumstance and got a job in his first musical group. Tikhanovich played the trumpet, the rehearsals carried him away so much that after graduating from college, the young man entered the Belarusian Conservatory.

Creation

Alexander Grigoryevich was offered to work in the Tonika ensemble, a touring group that often traveled abroad. But Tikhanovich refused and found an opportunity to get into Verasy. By that time, the young man was already in love with the soloist of the ensemble.

Since the mid-seventies of the last century, VIA "Verasy" has been a very successful project. The musicians gave two concerts a day, went on tour, and appeared on television. In the photo of that period, Tikhanovich can be seen with a guitar, and with a trumpet, and with a microphone. By the end of the eighties, due to disagreements in the team, the musician had to leave the group.

In 1988, Tikhanovich and his wife began performing as a duet. The victory of their composition “Lucky Case” at the television competition “Song of the Year” helped the spouses choose a name for the musical union. In the same year, former soloists of VIA "Verasy" opened their own Song Theater. Over time, this organization turned into a production center, and the Lucky Case duet evolved into a musical group with the same name.

Songs performed by Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich were popular. The musicians toured the cities of Germany, Poland, Hungary, Finland, France, Canada and other countries.

In 2008, the artist starred in a movie. He played one of the main roles in the melodrama "Apple of the Moon", which was released on the screens of Belarus in 2009. From 1994 to 2013, Tikhanovich was also involved in the filming of four films, in which he played episodic roles.

Personal life

Alexander Grigorievich met his future wife Jadwiga Poplavskaya at an orchestra rehearsal at the Minsk Philharmonic. Soon, young people became musicians of one group. Joint trips on tour and daily rehearsals brought Alexander and Jadwiga closer, who from the beginning of their acquaintance showed no interest in the young musician.

The couple signed in 1975. Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich have a strong musical family. In 1980, his wife gave birth to Vladimir Grigorievich's daughter Anastasia, who many years later also became a singer. At the beginning of the 2000s, Tikhanovich had a grandson, Ivan.

Death

Tikhanovich died at the age of 64. His life path ended unexpectedly for many fans. The fact that the singer had been trying to overcome a rare disease for many years became known after the death of Tikhanovich.

Alexander Tikhanovich in recent years

Many famous artists were killed by cancer, but Alexander Grigoryevich had a different diagnosis. The singer's cause of death is idiopathic fibrosing alveolitis. The artist suffered from this rare autoimmune lung disease for a long time. Tikhanovich managed to live several years longer than other people with a similar diagnosis. He hid his illness from the public. His last concert took place a few days before his hospitalization.

The singer died on January 28, 2017, after spending two weeks in the hospital. Farewell to the musician and funeral took place on January 30, 2017. The singer's grave is located at the Eastern Cemetery in Minsk.

  • The elderly woman who looked after Alexander as a child was a very pious person. Thanks to the nanny, Tikhanovich got acquainted with the Bible and visited the temple for the first time. During the years of illness, faith helped Alexander Grigorievich to remain a cheerful and charming person. For many years, Tikhanovich was a chorister in the Alexander Nevsky Church at the Military Cemetery in Minsk.
  • On the day of the wedding, Jadwiga Poplavskaya delayed the answer when the registrar asked about the bride's desire to marry. Tikhanovich's future wife hesitated for thirty seconds, but then decided that if something went wrong, she would simply file for divorce.

  • Pop singer Ruslan Alekhno had known Tikhanovich for about 17 years. The men had a strong friendship. Ruslan called Alexander Grigoryevich his teacher and congenial person. Alekhno and Tikhanovich made a pilgrimage trip to Mount Athos together in 2014.
  • In 1986, they tried to discredit Tikhanovich on tour in Asia. A bag of marijuana was planted in his concert trousers. During a spontaneous check, the singer was supposed to find drugs, but he was wearing the wrong suit. As a result of the inflated scandal, Tikhanovich left the Verasy ensemble.

“Tonight my dad passed away. We thank everyone who has been with him throughout his amazing life journey, — wrote in his Instagram, the daughter of the artist, the singer. “Thank you to everyone who prayed and supported him in his last and very difficult year.” The cause of death was unknown at the time of publication.

He admitted that he got into music by accident: at the Suvorov School, he really did not like mathematics, and those who studied in the brass band were released from lessons. Fortunately, instead of the bad company that educators promise to truants,

Tikhanovich got to enthusiastic teachers - he chose a tuba and, by his own admission, did not part with it. After college, he entered the Minsk Conservatory and graduated from it.

In 1973 he came to the VIA "Verasy" and performed with the famous Belarusian ensemble for fifteen long and glorious years, during which their music managed to literally enter every home. Actually, it is this period that can be called golden for the ensemble. Perestroika journalism and rock criticism that grew out of underground music magazines liked to rhyme them with Brezhnev’s stagnation, but it’s worth realizing that

at the moment when they sounded on radio and TV, from windows and cars, there was simply no alternative to them: the “red wave” of rock, which the late USSR would become famous for, was just beginning to form.

And "Verasy" sang songs by Pakhmutova and Dobronravov, becoming one of those who glorified this couple of classics of the Soviet pop song: in 1974 they won the All-Union performing competition and began their journey to every home and every radio.

"Robin", "Zaviruha", "Carnival" - now these songs have become classics, an indispensable sign of the times, without which, as he said in his famous program, it is difficult to imagine us and even more difficult to understand; it was not in vain that these songs were later pilfered into soundtracks about films that described Soviet life far from the capitals.

And 30-35 years ago, their unhurried inner rhythm, the soft sound of the keyboards and the poetry of everyday life created a soundtrack to the private life of people, allowing you to wrap yourself in this sound and hide in it from both ideological pumping and everyday problems.

It was not in vain that they were awarded titles in Belarus - it is worth noting that, along with the Pesnyars, they were one of the few artists who represented their native Belarusian language on the all-Union stage. Tikhanovich, whose voice sounded in their songs both separately and in the general small ensemble “choir”, was responsible for one of the most important and most inconspicuous elements in this sound: the conservative tuba player in the ensemble picked up the bass guitar.

In 1988, Tikhanovich left the VIA. Together with another soloist of "Verasov" Jadwiga, he forms a duet (and then an ensemble) "Lucky chance".

The name of the team was given by a song for verses, with which the artists who have already become husband and wife won the Song-88 competition. It is worth noting that here the situation was fundamentally different: the country was undergoing a rock revolution, and even state concert organizations and record labels were eyeing the new music with might and main. However, in this intense interspecies competition, Tikhanovich and Poplavskaya, even after the collapse of the USSR, managed not to get lost among the wreckage of the once unified space of the Soviet stage.

They were with their people - if we call the Soviet people as such - where they were now: they successfully went on tour to Germany, Israel and places of post-Soviet emigration. They did not sit idly by in their homeland either: having organized their Song Theater in Minsk back in 1988, the spouses turned it into a production center in our modern era. Among other Belarusian artists, his wards were, for example, artists who you least expect to see in this row: for example, a rock musician and his band Lyapis Trubetskoy.

On January 28, Alexander Tikhanovich, a performer of the popular Soviet band "", died in Minsk. The singer, beloved by millions of Belarusians and Russians, was only 64 years old.

The death of the People's Artist of Belarus became known from a message on the social network of his daughter Anastasia. On her VKontakte page, she expressed her gratitude to everyone who accompanied her father through life, who was next to him during the last, very difficult year, mentioned him in her prayers to God.

The singer left this world after a long and exhausting struggle with a serious illness.

The name of Alexander Tikhanovich among a wide audience is strongly associated with the Verasy group, formed in 1970 and consisting at first only of the fairer sex, among whom was the future wife of the singer, Yadviga Poplavskaya. However, two years later, the team was replenished with men, including Alexander.

1974 was a very important year for the ensemble. The "Verasy" group became a participant in the All-Union Competition of Variety Artists and, thanks to their amazingly clear and original voices, immediately attracted the attention of both judges and the public, having won the title of winner of the competition.

In 1983, the ensemble starred in the program "New Year's Attraction", hosted by Alla Pugacheva and Igor Kio, and the following year the composition "Carnival" turned into a hit.

The glory of Jadwiga and Alexander at that time was simply amazing. The performances of a slender young lady wearing stylish glasses and a handsome man with a black mustache playing the guitar delighted the audience. Their lyrical and beautiful songs are still enjoyed by people of any age. Indeed, numerous hits of these artists, including "White Snow", "Robin", "I live with my grandmother", affect the most hidden corners of the soul, and unpretentious performance evokes feelings of kindness and joy.

The couple remained in the ensemble "Verasy" until 1986, when they said goodbye to him and moved to the newly created orchestra, headed by Mikhail Finberg. After some time, they formed a duet called "Lucky Chance". It is interesting that the composition written by Larisa Rubalskaya and having the same name as the duet helped the couple to become laureates of the Song of the Year program.

This was followed by the festival "Golden Lyre", performances in many countries, including France, Israel, Finland, Canada, Germany.

Later, the couple created the Song Theater, which served as a good school for a large number of young talents, including the Lyapis Trubetskoy team, Alexander Solodukha, Nikita Fominykh.
