The creative path of Anatoly Evdokimov began long before the creation of the artist own show. At first, the artist's performances were solo, creating images on stage popular artists: Tony Brexton, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, whose beautiful voices broke hundreds of hearts of viewers around the world. Then there was work in the Dream Factory team. And four years ago, Evdokimov created a show where he and artistic director, and a stylist, and a costume designer - in general, everything. This is how the Divas Show program was born.

Anatoly Evdokimov, the creator and artistic director of the only travesty show in Russia, the Evdokimov Show, is sure that no one can portray a woman as brilliantly as a man, especially if he is helped by magnificent costumes, choreography and favorite music. He told the editor-in-chief of Pravda.Ru, Inna Novikova, about his creative discoveries, successes and fears.


Anatoly Evdokimov: My grandmother ate a wolf

— Anatoly, your show is called the best travesty show in Europe — who called you that?

- Naturally, we did not name ourselves - we had several awards, where we were announced like that when we came abroad. Then there were articles with just such headings.

- Your programs are performances with some kind of script or is it just beautiful dancing beautiful outfits? Who are they for?

For absolutely everyone. One of our best programs is built on the work of foreign divas such as Madonna, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Cher, Lady Gaga. For 40 minutes, about 15 artists pass in front of you. Real divas, at a very high speed, with a constant change of costumes. Each number is two - two and a half minutes. Change of costumes - 30 seconds. It is better not to see what is happening behind the scenes, and most importantly, not to hear. This is a real show: a kaleidoscope of images plus wonderful music, choreography, professional ballet, is all with theatrical miniatures. Very expensive, rhinestone-studded suits or lighting suits. Plus, of course, the similarity to the image that is being created.

- What is the similarity? The artists sing with their own voices, the clothes on them are those in which neither Madonna nor Houston have ever performed ...

- In order to create an image, you need basically what we are used to seeing, for example, the same Tina Turner. Short dress, open legs, same wig.

In fact, I very rarely did parodies that would make fun of artists, I tried to make images. I needed people to believe that this or that character is in front of them.

Now it is important for me that it was a spectacular show. It was originally built on the stars, but the scenography, choreography, how it surprises people during the same 40 minutes, is more important to me. I'm more interested in the images that were created by me and the team.

For example, the Swan Princess, where I am not parodying anyone, I just took an image from a painting by Vrubel, to the music of Tchaikovsky, with a stunning costume. I am not praising myself at this moment, but the tailor who created the masterpiece. This Swan Princess Vrubelevskaya swims ...

Or, let's say, now we are creating a large-scale project - Cleopatra, where the costumes are just works of art that can be exhibited in a museum. In addition to Cleopatra, all the gods of Egypt are present there, and paradise ... And everything was studied: what attributes they had, jewelry, who chief god how to correctly distribute them on the stage. My girls come out as goddesses, cats, how they should look. This colossus that is worth crazy money, which people have been working on for half a year, will run for only four minutes.

Or, let's say, Lady Gaga looks like a Venetian carnival to me. The best Venetian costumes were studied, crinolines, masks, huge headdresses, etc. were sewn. Such a black and silver sparkling procession comes out - and all in order to show Lady Gaga's number, which also lasts only four minutes.

“She's a mask, freak. But I wanted to make not some monsters, but something more refined, more beautiful.

- And your number with Pannochka lying in a coffin, who suddenly sits down and begins to sing a song in the voice of Sofia Rotaru: "I loved you, I forgot you"? ... When I saw it, it was such a shock! But, probably, the cost of the suit is so economical: just something nightgown snow-white and on the head a wreath.

— Yes, it's cheap, but mentally the team has been preparing for this for a very long time. I had to urgently do a Halloween program for 40 minutes, and we had only three suitable numbers. I immediately had an image of a panna: the dead, ghouls ...

- And how did you convince people to lie in a coffin?

- This is a theatrical task. Costume designers, dancers, my friends said: "What are you, crazy?" There were stories that it was a bad sign to lie in a coffin, that this could somehow have a bad effect. Actors are superstitious. I explained to them that, guys, I don’t know a single actress who wouldn’t lie in a coffin in films.

In every second film someone is killed, buried. True, it was very difficult to work in front of my mother. She wanted to come to this program. I say: "Mom, get ready, there your son will lie in a coffin." Well, I came and looked. He says: "Yes, of course, it's not very pleasant, but ..."

Do you know what the story was? We had five clubs, and we said that we would not carry a coffin on them: "Do you want this number to work? Order a coffin." Who ordered luxurious coffins at Mosfilm, and who knocked down himself - and it was simply impossible to get out of these. It's good that I go in for sports - you need a lot of physical stress to get out at all.

Still had to go smoothly. Ibid mythical creature some, it can not make sudden movements. And I almost pulled my shoulder after another climb out. My father is a master of all trades. I call my mother: “Mom, we need to make a comfortable coffin. The only one who can make it for me is my father. - The fact is that I'm not portraying Rotaru there. I'm doing Pannochka. But even in Sofia Mikhailovna herself, in her look, in her behavior, there is something ... from a lady, right? She is such a witch. Beautiful, but dangerous. The fact that she is so old, and she looks like this, is something like that ... This is just a gift to a woman who looks so wonderful. I love it.

- And here's a question ... You graduated from high school, went to a decent university, received a decent diploma. And after that you go to work in a night bar as a bartender. It's still God bless him. But the fact that you then created a travesty show ... It was probably difficult for parents who want to be proud of their son, who they know to brag about? On the one hand, the whole country knows, but on the other hand, they gave birth to a boy - it turned out to be a girl. How did you say to your parents for the first time: "Well, mom, I'm going to dress up in a beautiful outfit"?

- Firstly, I didn’t have such an attitude at all that “mom, I went, dressed up in a beautiful outfit.” I am a person well brought up in art by the same mother. Let's get back to the fact that travesty is what the whole theater originally started with. In the kabuki theater, in the Roman Colosseum, all men played, women were not allowed there. This is one of the most difficult branches in the theatrical profession: not every actor can portray a woman in a quality manner. He receives great attention in theater universities. Therefore, for most male actors who played women, these roles became stellar. And this applies not only to men, but also to women.

Alisa Freindlich, when she plays the Kid in Carlson, is a drag queen. Or Sarah Bernhardt, who played Hamlet. Or now the film "The Mysterious Albert Nobbs" is coming out with my favorite actress Glenn Close - she plays a man, and absolutely impartial, very ugly, with a rough face. But now the whole world is talking about it. It's just that for women, the role of a travesty is a serious role, some kind of tragic one. And men are better at comedic roles. These star roles may not even be listed. Ask anyone: Dustin Hoffman - Tootsie, Mrs. Doubtfire - Robin Williams, of course, Kalyagin with his aunt ...

- But still tell me, Anatoly, what is the point? When it was in ancient japan, China, in Rome, even in our XVII-XVIII centuries when the theater arose, it was a social, political history... Decent women could not play in the theater. Now this is not. Why do men play women now?

- There is no need to get to the bottom of the meaning here. For me, the most important thing is to create in the audience good mood, take you to a beautiful, unreal world full of music. I spent all the money on the first show, gathered people in advance, assigned roles, made complex soundtracks, costumes. The show immediately attracted attention back in those shaggy years. I immediately wanted to make sure that everything was on the level. I had other tasks in life.

I wanted to go on stage, I wanted to sing, dance. But that it will become my profession, I absolutely did not think. And after this first case, they put me on a salary, gave me two days a week, wished that there were new numbers, the whole beau monde of Moscow began to come there, we - me and two dancers - immediately became popular, the three of us made a huge program in a year. We didn’t cover up, we didn’t have false breasts then, nothing like that. Initially, everything was like Roman Viktyuk: masks, makeup, as in "The Maids", a man's pumped-up body. And we, with some hints, on the pitch, on energy, on complex dances depicted stars. Over time, it all turned into what it is now.

- But now, when you perform, even if you have a woman's dress, very beautiful makeup, very beautiful hairstyles, you can still see that this is a man ...

- Yes, I do not hide it at all. I don't leave the gym. Here it doesn't matter at all. The moment of recognition, reincarnation is important. I do not like, for example, to work solo numbers, one number in the program maximum, because this is not my condition. It’s just that my task and my interest in performing on stage is to be here Tina Turner, here the Wolf, here the Princess Swan, here Edith Piaf, and here someone else.

- And why did you say that you would never parody some unknown singer?

“There is absolutely nothing to hold on to. There is no charisma, no own plasticity, no presentation, no idea why you are on stage, for what. It's one thing to parody Dalida, who has a voice, costumes, and manner of presentation, or Edith Piaf, or Marilyn Monroe, or Madonna.

- And from ours - Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Edita Piekha, Laima Vaikule? ...

- We are very fond of the Russian program, although they scold me for it, but they like to order it. With show business, we generally have trouble, you just can’t imagine worse. What is happening now is just such a degradation that I don’t know when we will get out of this, but it’s very sad. The last thing I liked was Dima Bilan. When, finally, a guy appeared who has energy, who sings wonderful live, charismatic, handsome, etc., I thought: "Well, finally, something professional, absolutely at the western level." Somehow I don't know anymore.

— And Kirkorov?

- We showed Kirkorov in our program. He has done a lot in this life. Kirkorov is a really wonderful singer, very professional, he is a workaholic. He sometimes creates just amazing music. But if he put more effort into creating his own music, and not by rehashing someone else's repertoire, it would be much more interesting. Everything that he himself creates, is written for him by composers, that he himself sings - this is the highest aerobatics of the stage, and the world at that.

- It seems to me that he had some numbers about five or ten years ago, when he also went out in outfits, as for a drag show, when there were masks and feathers.

- Yes. He took this, in my opinion, from Farinelli, from the opera about the castrato. But he did not fall into travesty, he does not need it. I think that the presence of the Primadonna would not allow him to do this. Even if he had such a desire, she probably would have reined him in.

- Why?

“Because it takes away what comes naturally to him. A man who sings on stage should please women, which is why he is for sale. Here is Stas Mikhailov: at his concerts there are only women, from 30 to 45, crazy concerts. This is a boom, they are ready to walk and walk on it. In addition to music, everything is built on desire, on attractiveness. The singer and producer must think about what audience everything is designed for.

- Listen, Kobzon sang successfully, percussively, effectively all his life, and for some reason he probably didn’t have the thought of somehow specially liking women. The country liked him, the Central Committee liked him...

- Why? He liked it. Any singer is a sexual object, this is normal.

- You say that you, apart from the show, are a completely ordinary guy. You don't want to be liked by women?

“Believe me, women really like me in this form, and how. In this show, everything is presented just like a theater; at the end of the show, all the masks must be torn off. Then, in addition to female images, in every program I have great amount male. For example, a guy with a naked torso or Michael Jackson ...

- But tell me, your profession, your image somehow interfere with your ordinary life?

- No. This is absolute theatre. My dancers come, who have two children at home, girls come. We sit down, do make-up, put on costumes, work out, take off make-up, everyone puts on jeans and goes about our business. Someone goes to the family, someone to the club, I go to the gym or somewhere else. Theater is theater, it is work.

You say it's theater. Here is a poster on your site: mostly nightclubs, one, two, three in the morning. Do you perform where the concert starts at 19 o'clock, at 18 o'clock?

— We gave concerts three years in a row in concert halls. Now we will have concerts at the Variety Theater on April 25-26. I just waited for the crisis to pass, because it was impossible to do something so grandiose.

— I really liked your medley shows from famous films, with humor, with a good knowledge of cinema ... For example, " Love affair at work", in which you mixed "Love and Doves", added something else ... It's really very witty.

- So the idea came to make a soundtrack program. For the first time, I decided to release a turnkey program, to show it in Moscow big show. It was very difficult, but somehow I kept a picture in my head, what should follow what, what characters. We edited the music for a very long time.

- Tell me, do you have any ideals, who do you look up to? World Stars?

— Madonna. I can honestly say. I used to be embarrassed about this, but no, I have been a fan of this singer for many years - probably 15, if not 20. What she does is unique: stage uniqueness, physical training, the ability to present yourself on stage. The same Whitney Houston, the same Barbara Streisand, our famous actresses. Of course, I love Neelova, I go to her performances, Alisa Freindlich.

- For some reason I thought about a cabaret, "Moulin Rouge" - something like that ...

— No, I don't like the Lido at all, I don't like the Moulin Rouge. For me, it is important that the show comes with energy, presentation, that there is some kind of charisma, so that it immediately blows away.

— And then what? Here's the audience watching. When she sees you, does she think about something eternal, about her relationship with her loved ones? What's left for the people who watch you after your show?

- I have a number Mylene Farmer, where people cry. There is a number where they even cry over the one where at the end the grandmother kills the wolf. We are now talking about what I want to achieve from the public. I'm glad I'm getting there. Let's say Mylene Farmer is an absolutely serious number that we very rarely work with. I'm pretending to be a prostitute. To me (to her) first comes the sailor, with whom she has a la such sex, gives her money. Then BDSM comes out and gives her money. Then a young man appears, who, as it seems to her, can treat her somehow differently. The music changes, the story changes, but in reality he just steals money from her. The finale of the number - she takes out a gun and shoots herself. There are numbers that absolutely seriously set people up. There are beautiful rooms, it's like a ballet, like the Swan Princess. There is a number where the whole ballet comes out, saxophones shoot and very energetic dances. There is a number where "Modern Talking" replaces Sabrina, "Boni M". Everyone goes to dance, everyone rejoices. Better to watch us live and the whole program.

- You have already done a lot, and your show is known. And what are your creative plans?

The level of the show is growing. I have high hopes for our solo concerts, so I'm making a foreign program. I just want to work. Everything suits me in my profession. What I do, my team does, no one does. I am glad that every time we evoke a storm of emotions in people, a good mood. Even when I have Hard times, I say to myself: "Look, it's still great! You are doing what you love, the public likes it, just move on, create something new, improve the level, raise the bar not for someone, but for yourself."

- Do you have some big dream, maybe even difficult to fulfill, which lives secretly somewhere?

“Dreams are already gone. I have become a more realistic person. So my goal is just not to stop. Any theater that has ever stopped is dead theater. I try to move forward all the time.

Having visited Krasnoyarsk, the famous choreographer Anatoly Evdokimov admitted that he was already cramped in the touring format of work. He dreams of his own cabaret theatre. Only for the performance at the International Exhibition Center "Siberia" at the Aurum Party, dedicated to the opening of the exhibition "Jewelry Salon of Siberia", the artists of the most sought-after travesty show in Russia brought 21 suitcases of costumes. Often, concert organizers refuse to invite a star to a performance precisely because of the excess baggage.

Anatoly, in your show you are not so much an artist as a director. Why a parody?

I never thought that I would be doing parody, I definitely didn’t dream about it in my childhood. Everything grew together by chance, independently of me. Once, ten years ago, when I worked as a bartender in a club, my colleagues and I decided to make a surprise at the New Year's skit. And since the roles, in addition to me, were the chef and the administrator, I had to deal with the selection of costumes and some kind of directing. Performance where the three of us portrayed Tina Turner, Liza Minnelli, Barbara Streisand and others socialites, saw the director of the new Moscow club. Since then, I performed in this club every Saturday and Sunday, gathered a team of dancers, and prepared new numbers weekly.

At the time, I didn't know what I agreed to. For a whole year I was spinning without a break. There was not even time to catch myself thinking: “Is this all happening to me?” But they noticed me, they recognized me. The club was elite, the Moscow beau monde gathered there, it was necessary to keep the brand, to raise the level of performances. So there was a whole theater with a huge number of rooms. What we brought today to Krasnoyarsk, for example, (the conversation took place on April 13, -Newslab. en) This, in my opinion - aerobatics. One of our most glamorous and pretentious programs, which included developments over 10 years.

Why did you decide to show it to Krasnoyarsk?

We were warned that the party was closed, elite. Like, guys, you have to try. We did our best: we brought 21 suitcases with us. The organizers were shocked by the excess baggage at the airport.

Does parody as a genre have a future in Russia?

It's hard for me to talk about it, because our work is no longer a parody. This is a show in the tradition of Las Vegas, where a lot of genres are mixed, including theatrical. We even carry lighting and pyrotechnic equipment with us, my dancers are among the best, most in demand in Moscow, many of them work in musicals. A real travesty show is not just "men in skirts".

Well, let's say you have reached this level. Now we need to keep him, but where next? What is the next stage of development, and can a travesty show be called art at all?

Of course you can. I have a dream to make a cabaret in Moscow. I really want to have a stationary platform for work, constant tours are great, but it’s very difficult to travel all the time. And the further the show develops, the harder it is "transported". And we have a huge number of offers, they call every day several times.

The performance fee is often less than the cost of luggage and accommodation. The hospital gives more opportunities for the team.

And what would this theater be like?

According to the principle of "Moulin Rouge", or "Lido". More like Lido. In general, wherever I go, I try to go to cabarets, to clubs where there are travesty shows. I saw how it is organized in Thailand, on what high level everything is staged there: they even have their own transport that brings tourists to the place of performance. Multi-level theatre, gorgeous stage, excellent acoustics. Artists work out two or three concerts a day, everything is put on stream. I want to organize something similar in Moscow and also bet on tourists. But, for now, these are just dreams: too much financial investment is required.

When you work with phonograms of famous artists, there are no problems with copyright law?

Until it comes up. It saves me that the genre of parody is not seen as plagiarism or as using someone else's material for one's own enrichment. Only thanks to this I have the opportunity to take other people's phonograms. In addition, most artists themselves do not mind looking at themselves from the outside. They treat the parody calmly, with humor. How much we work, no one has ever been offended, in any case, Russian pop artists.

They say you are better received abroad than in Russia...

Abroad, in general, everyone is better received, there the audience is more disposed to this. People come to a performance to enjoy, to enjoy. From the very first minutes of the show program, they have fun, shout, hoot. And they don’t sit with such faces that clearly read: come on, show us what you are capable of. It is more difficult for us to rock people. First of all, I am talking about Moscow, it is also comfortable to work in the regions. And in the capital there is a very spoiled audience. It is especially difficult to surprise rich people who live somewhere in elite villages. And you need to surprise them if you want to receive new orders. Therefore, before going abroad, I worry less than before a corporate party in the Moscow region.

Is grooming expensive?

Still would! But I'm an athlete, so most costs are the costs of instructors, gyms, proper nutrition etc. Not because I love myself so much, just work obliges. If a person goes on stage, he must look perfect. I try to convey this idea to my artists, I swear, even if someone is too lazy to go to the solarium. This is a feature of our artists, by the way, in the West it is a matter of course. In our country, dancers allow themselves to dance with a belly, a bad haircut.

What is your foot size, if not a secret?

No problem with stage shoes?

There used to be, but now, thank God, specialized stores have appeared. It turned out that in Russia there are a lot of women with big size legs. Of great help to us are boutiques of stripper outfits, of which there are more and more in Moscow. There you can pick up beautiful, sexy shoes for almost any foot, now you don’t have to order in shoe shops. I still have nothing, most of the guys in the troupe have a size 45 stop, but even for them in these stores there is something to pick up.

Do you communicate with any of your colleagues? Can you name someone as a role model?

Vadim Kazantsev - aka Zaza Napoli, my good friend. He is a very media character, an artist with a capital letter, with a bright head. And I really like that we both understand: one thing is the stage, another thing is life. This is a business in which you need to work with your head, know the structure of the market very well, and so on. I met Alexander Peskov last time seven years ago. I treat him with great respect, I think that what he did on the stage in the 90s is a great achievement for our stage. But I still try to navigate foreign shows. My idols are the stars of Las Vegas. There is a lot to learn there.

Do you have a favorite character you are portraying? Which skirt do you feel most comfortable in?

Tina Turner is my favorite image, my favorite performer, whom I consider flawless. Everything she does on stage is very correct and worthy of all praise. Working with her material is a real treat for me. It is clear that this is someone else's phonogram, someone else's voice ... But even through it, from me and from the people who are dancing next to me, there is such a surge of energy that the audience always perceive the number with a bang.

Anatoly Sergeevich Evdokimov is a native of Moscow. He was born on November 21, 1975 and has always loved to portray celebrities. This love became his whole life, helped to create a grandiose career as a dancer, soloist of the most popular travesty show not only in Russia, but also abroad.

Initially, the guy worked as a bartender in a nightclub and there, with the consent of the director, he began to arrange his solo performances. The audience admired the young man, who very similar portrayed Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and Tina Turner.

"Dream Factory"

Thanks to Anatoly, the club became so popular that its owner persuaded the talented guy to create his own group, where there will be several artists. Anatoly Evdokimov dreamed about this for a long time, and he did not have to be asked for a long time to work out a plan for creating the show. This is how the "Dream Factory" appeared, and Anatoly became the main soloist in this show.

There were more artists, and the program began to expand. Soon, visitors to the institution could see Madonna, Edith Piaf, many other foreign and Russian celebrities, which were portrayed by men in disguise.

Own show

In 1998, Anatoly Evdokimov decided to be not only a soloist, but also the main scriptwriter, director, choreographer, costume designer, owner of his own show. So he became the creator of the Evdokimov Show. He personally wove hats, sewed costumes and nurtured the images of celebrities for half a year so that the audience could see singers almost indistinguishable from real stars.

Soon Masha Rasputina, Sofia Rotaru, Edita Piekha, Lyudmila Gurchenko appeared. So the show program "Divas Show" was born.

Evdokimov's travesty show is a very expensive pleasure. All costumes are unique, personally created, decorated with rhinestones. Every new look created for a long time, Anatoly Evdokimov personally looks through the concert recordings several times, so as not to miss a single recognizable gesture of celebrities. He focuses more on studying Russian stars, since Houston is easy to replace, Russian viewers have not studied it so carefully. But Masha Rasputina, the favorite singer of many, is not at all easy to parody so that the image is as similar as possible.

Anatoly Evdokimov says that there is nothing better than accepting the gratitude of the audience after the performance for the fact that they were able to see, for example, Madonna with their own eyes. There is another surprise! This evening I will be on the same stage with Zaza Napoli. In life, I call him Vlad, for me he is no Zaza. Despite the fact that we have known each other for a long time, we will perform together for the first time. What did it cost to persuade him to perform in the "Monkeys"! Friends say: well, there will be two monsters on the stage! I think that this party will become a serious event in the Russian gay scene.

Oh, they react differently to my performances! I do not have a goal to ridicule someone, on the contrary, I take the virtues of a particular star and enhance them. And I only use images that I really like. My parodies saw Lyme, Piekha, Gurchenko. "VIA-Gra" just registered backstage when I parodied them. They have already created more than two hundred masterpieces - and that's it. handmade! If we talk about the price, then only the stones are worth a fortune. We do not use ordinary glass, we have everything from Swarovski. One suit is about $3,000. Now calculate how much it costs only one number in three minutes. And there can be fifteen such exits!

Suitcases

If earlier, four years ago, leaving the house, I took two suitcases with me and got into a taxi, now I have to return home four times. And the suitcases are bought and bought in addition. This trend scares me! When we go to a three-hour performance, we have to buy a whole compartment - we fill it to the top with costumes. I see the loss of any suitcase as horrible dream. If for a taxi driver who inadvertently takes away one of the bags of suits, the contents will be pleasantly surprising, but will be of no value, then for me this is the loss of a fortune. Each suitcase contains thousands of dollars and many hours of work of the creators.

Rest

It got to the point that in one evening we managed to perform in six places. We started at 5 pm and ended almost in the morning. Thirty seconds to change between numbers, the show itself and an hour to get there. From such a non-stop it was physically difficult, rest was required.

Thailand

I went there at the beginning of the year and I still live under these impressions. Broke the hearts of half of Thailand (laughs). And to be honest, my heart was broken. I was active there. Went on all sorts of tours and excursions. He went diving, rode elephants, climbed mountains, visited caves ...

In fact, I didn't even think about it. Gives some kind of disease. female image- He is only on stage, this is my job. I can abstract from any image, no matter how hard I created it. IN Everyday life I am the most ordinary guy. I have retained my courage and like myself in this capacity.

I know that in the image of a woman I can please any straight man. I can use my energy - and I will succeed, and he will like it. This is a theater with its own specific task. And if there is an image of a "fucking chick" in the room, I will be it! I can marry Masha Rasputina - and everyone, literally everyone, will want me! But immediately after this image, I will come out already an old, broken old woman with shaking hands. By the way, this is more interesting for me, because this role is more difficult to play than "awesome blonde with tits." I also like to combine extremes in one room. For example, depravity and holiness, youth and old age. I am currently searching male roles, which can be used intelligently in our show, so that it does not deteriorate.
