The best children's books for 5 7 years. An indicative list of literature for reading to children according to the program of education and training in kindergarten, ed.

We turn to our most favorite books with a daughter for children 5-6 years old.

So the time has come for my favorite writer Astrid Lindgren.

The book "About Lotta from the noisy street." Lotta does not want to concede to her older brother and older sister in anything, and she does it very well. She is 5 years old, but it is not a problem for her to get a tree and sweets for Christmas. She knows what she wants, and various funny stories happen to her.

The book "The Adventures of Emil from Lenneberg" is about a boy named Emil. He is terribly mischievous and stubborn. He walks in a cap and with a gun. And for his tricks he sits in a barn and cuts out wooden men. It is not difficult for him to hit his head in a tureen, break a window, catch his father's leg with a mousetrap, train a pig, feed a crowd of homeless people, win a horse and even save a person. Emil is a wonderful boy, he is brave, quick-witted and very cheerful.

The book "We are all from Bullerby". Imagine a small village with only three houses, and they stand side by side. And children live in this village: Lasse, Busse, Lisa, Britta, Anna and Ulle. This is a whole gang of inseparable friends. They go to school together, help their parents together, celebrate holidays together, and most importantly, they play together. And their games are very interesting, adults definitely can’t come up with such games.

And again, Andrei Usachev, in collaboration with A. Berezin, with the book “All About the Dragon”. How cute is this green dragon that lives in the Druzhinin family. And in the country with them lives, and in the city. They try to hide him, but can you hide that smart and mischievous one. The book has a lot of interesting colorful characters, a lot of funny moments. The child will love this book.

Eno Round's Clutch, Half Shoe and Mossy Beard book. Very unusual characters and extremely bad things happen to them. unusual stories: either a chase of a thousand cats, or they are surrounded by thousands of rats. But friendship helps the main characters to cope with all the difficulties and even get medals.

The publishing house "Labyrinth press" has released a series of "Open the book" with excellent quality. We have purchased the following books from this series: "The Adventures of a Dunno and His Friends", "The Wizard of the Emerald City", "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". I will not write the content, since the plot of these books is known to everyone. Just buy books in this version, you will not regret it 100%.

But about " Wonderful Adventures Nils s wild geese"I can't help but write. Somehow it turned out that I did not read this book as a child, and this is a huge omission. Indeed, in this book it is so colorfully described interesting adventure that even an adult will say "wow". Together with Nils and the goose Martin you will fly around all of Sweden, the evil fox Smirre will chase you, you will visit an underwater city, take part in a festival on Mount Kulaberg (only once a year all animals and birds converge on it), make friends with all animals and birds, fall in love with nature in all its beauty and splendor! You will soar above the clouds and marvel at the wisdom of Akka Kebnekaise, the leader of the pack.

This is our interesting selection of books for the next age: Best books for children 6-7 years old

P.S. I buy books in the Labyrinth online store, good value for money.

This list includes books that are accessible by difficulty to children from 4-5 years old. Those. 4-5 years is the lower limit of interest in the books of this list. Many of the books on the list will be relevant for children 6-7 years old and a little older.

The list is designed for children introduced into early age to books and those who love a lot of reading. For four-year-olds who are not attached to books, I recommend starting with. I also advise all lovers of abundant reading to look into it, it contains a whole bunch of hits that are relevant for 4-5 year old children 💡 ! Suddenly, you bypassed them. List name "for children of three years" associated with the lower age limit, and the upper age limit of many books is 5-7 years.

List of books for children 4-5 years old | And what is this list?

This list has been prepared solely according to the preferences of our family. Dad is the head of one of the business support structures, mom is a blogger / programmer, Yana is a five-year-old book lover. There are about 60 book recommendations on the list. Yana's library contains 31 books from this list. Another part of the books has been replaced by analogues or is on my wish-list. Paying attention, I am in no way encouraging anyone to mindlessly buy all the books on this list! This would be a big mistake, because each person's attitude to books is connected with many factors, including a person's attitude to life, so different people it cannot be the same. Focus on your child's needs and preferences. Order serial books in small portions.

Books in the list are color-coded:

A few words about the specifics of the perception of books by children 4-5 years old. In the fourth year, the child has a huge leap in the perception of texts. Active connection of fantasy allows you to switch to books without illustrations! Yana began listening to audiobooks and audioplays at the age of 3 years and 10 months. At the age of four, children who read abundantly can perceive simple texts without illustrations. However, for the further development of fantasy, illustrated books remain an important part of the library. Of course, at the age of four, the complexity of the texts increases by a step.

An attack of graphomania on the theme of the developing effect of fiction books ...

I think many do not realize what a significant contribution books leave in human development. This contribution no one will ever be able to measure. Work out with Yana early childhood I started with developmental techniques. Later trying various options, I came to the conclusion that the most important factor in qualitative development, this is the strength of the child's interest (enthusiasm). You can persistently study English with your child at home from 1 to 4 years old using cards and books. But if the family does not regularly use English language, it is worth interrupting classes and in six months the child will forget EVERYTHING. And now we add circumstances that fuel interest. Imagine that a child goes to a kindergarten where all the children speak different languages, and only one of the languages \u200b\u200bis familiar is English. A child in such a situation will learn English relatively easily, efficiently and without exhausting classes. And he will learn it so well that even in a year he will remember it a little. And when reminded, it will restore all knowledge in a very short time. Those. when there is interest, the learning process is 10 times more effective! What's with the books?

Despite the fact that the text of books is an excellent material for the development of thinking. The child analyzes and connects many objects obtained from the texts of books, synthesizes new images and plots from these sets. In a word, "fantasy". In essence, fantasy is nothing but the results of a thought process. Reading books that truly captivate a child is an effective development of thinking.

Of course, the matter is not limited to fantasies; vocabulary and the ability to analyze texts are developed over time. Reading encyclopedias simply fills the child with new knowledge with minimal effort from others. I'm not talking about the emotional impact of reading. One positive! Well my the main objective in introducing Yana to reading - to introduce her to school age to independent reading of the classics. The development of thinking from reading idle literature is not a bad thing, but we know that the development from reading classics (smart literature) adds another 100 points to the development of thinking.

List of books for children 4-5 years old | Portion of time-tested works

Alexey Tolstoy

There is a highlight in our library - a collection of "Forty Tales" (Labirint, My-shop, Ozon) by A.N. Tolstoy in illustrations by Yana Sedova. Fairy tales in the Magpie selection are short for 1-3 pages, but they are not suitable for kids. The text is not for everyone, it is very specific. Stuffed with old Russian words and a special old Russian sentence structure. Sedova's illustrations are organically intertwined with the text, immersing readers in the atmosphere of fairy tales.

My impressions: The book is not for idle reading, but for gourmets and aesthetes who are passionate about literature.

Many people remember and love the cycle of the story about the girl Zhenya from childhood. The most memorable story from the cycle about the Seven-Flower Flower.

1. (Labirint, My-shop). We have such a collection, but I recommend you buy the collection below (No. 3 of this table). This collection includes the tedious and long fairy tale "Pearl", which is not at all age-appropriate for preschoolers. This tale is not at all childish and is suitable only for young ladies "married".

  1. Semi-flower
  2. Pipe and jug
  3. Mushrooms
  4. Pearl

2. "Flower-Semitsvetik" collection (Labirint, My-shop). Four time-tested tales, two of them by Kataev.

  1. "Pipe and jug" Kataev
  2. “How Masha quarreled with a pillow” Lebedev
  3. "Dandelion" Lebedev
  4. "The Adventures of an Old Doll" Stone
  5. Semi-flower Kataev.

The minus of this collection is primitive illustrations.

3. Tales of V. Kataev (Labirint, My-shop, Ozon).

  1. Semi-flower
  2. Pipe and jug
  3. Mushrooms

4. Thin books from the authorship of Kataev from ed. Speech (Labirint)

  1. Semi-flower
  2. Pipe and jug

"Russian fairy tales for children"(Labirint, Ozon, My-shop) is a collection of Russian folk tales. There are 27 of them here! There are a lot of such fairy tales in this collection, which are rarely found. Texts of the collection in the classical processing of Afanasiev and Tolstoy. The cherry on top of this cake are Antonenkov's incomparable illustrations. I immediately warn you that not everyone accepts and understands his work, so look at the photos of the spreads in the Labyrinth carefully. For me, Antonenkov is a talent and his illustrations, how traditional national spices emphasize the authenticity of Russian folk images.

"About Svetlana" (Labirint, Ozon) The book will be appreciated by fans of retro, as well as lovers of realistic high-quality illustrations. Includes 14 stories about a four-year-old girl. 10 of them tell about everyday life in kindergarten. Each story is about 1 page. Many stories mention the sights of Soviet Moscow.

"About the girl Masha" (My-shop, Labirint, Ozon) Another retro book about a preschooler. Masha is 5 years old. This book is in black-and-white illustrations, but it didn't lose any of that.

Girly cuteness by Stefanie Dale

Often I see criticism of books in the spirit of "ignorant, the child has nothing to learn from it." I will give an argument against: “Adults, is everything that you yourself read or watch useful?”. Even if you read and watch only the classics, confess what gives you every immersion in the work? Does it really develop and every time you become wiser? Or do you still plunge into the atmosphere of the work in order to enjoy its specificity, versatility, etc.? I consider mood books, books for positive emotions to be an obligatory part of the library.

Books in this series can be compared to mediocre candies in shiny wrappers. For children, this technique works. Simply because children have much stronger emotions of joy. The joy of a shiny package is often so great that it overshadows the taste buds and analytical skills that can tell a child that the candy is not very tasty.

It must be admitted that cute high-quality pictures attract everyone without exception. It is with such pictures that a series of books about the strawberry fairy is framed. The series is not perfect in terms of lyrics. The texts contain a lot of details, correct plots, but they do not capture at all. Considering that children's fantasy is working at full capacity, colorful illustrations of this series are enough for them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a fairy tale. Whether you need cute dummy books, decide for yourself. I bought a couple. Reading them is boring, but Yana likes it. She listens to flat texts about the strawberry fairy, and, impressed by the illustrations, expresses her hypotheses on further development events. I can’t wait for the moment when Yana will be able to read books on her own and save me from reading substandard.

My impressions: The book is a candy in a beautiful wrapper with a sugary filling. Children love sugary.

List of books for children 4 years old | Tales of princesses

I started reading these fairy tales to Yana at 3.5. Later I realized that there are simpler books for this age. At 4 years old (better if 4.5 or more), it is quite possible to start dating. Our library contains colorful and democratic ROSMEN collections. The illustrations in them are not pretentious, but quite cute, and the price is also pleasant.

"All Tales" by Charles Perrault (my-shop , ozon) "Tales" by Andersen (my-shop, ozon)

Read detailed impressions about books in.

My impressions: cheap and cheerful :-).

Humor in the verses of Maria Rupasova

There are such books, after reading which there is a feeling of warmth and childhood in the soul. Books like this are a breath of fresh air. The poems of Masha Rupasova have such an effect on me. We have a couple of her collections at home, but I want to recommend a collection about grandmothers: "Old women fell from the sky." The collection is available in two formats:

  • standard - about A4 (Labirint, My-shop, Ozon);
  • reduced A5 format (Labirint, My-shop, Ozon).

Stories by I. Sokolov-Mikitov in illustrations by the artist G. Nikolsky about the life of forest animals in different times of the year. Excellent selection of publishing house Rech:

"Autumn in the Forest" (Labirint) "Winter in the Forest" (Labirint)

Tales of Mamin-Sibiryak about nature

Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak "Alyonushka's Tales". A cycle of fairy tales about nature. (labirint). Our library has another collection of fairy tales by this author. When I saw the illustrations of the purchased collection, I wanted to purchase this collection.
"Alyonushka's Tales" (Labirint) A collection of fairy tales by Soviet authors (Bianki, Mamin-Sibiryak, and a couple of Tolstoy's fairy tales - Three Bears and Lipunyushka) about nature. The illustrations by T. Vasilyeva complement the texts very harmoniously.

Astrid Lindgren

Another one of my favorite authors since childhood. Most of all I was impressed by the fairy tale "Myo my mio". Yana, I haven't read this story yet. She is very vulnerable. Until the age of 4, the ending in Teremok scared her very much, and we did not read Teremok. For 4 years, I give options with simpler plots, below is another portion for five-year-olds.

Collection of fairy tales Astrid Lindgren My-shop, Ozon) Very interesting collection with atmospheric illustrations. They are few, but they set the mood. Such a collection the best option for the first acquaintance with the author. Tales of magical creatures - elves, tiny men, pupae growing in the beds.

"Kids from Horny Street" My-shop, Ozon) Astrid Lindgren

A book about village children, about the relationship of older children with their three-year-old sister Lotta. Many stories demonstrate to older preschoolers and younger schoolchildren the specifics of the illogical behavior of toddlers in a humorous and accessible form. The continuation is the book "About Lotta from the Loud Street" (My-shop), Ozon). Lotte is 5 years old in it.

"We are all from Bullerby" (My-shop , Ozon) Astrid Lindgren A large collection of atmospheric stories about various events and experiences in the lives of children from a small Swedish village. The collection contains a lot of text and few illustrations. A lot of topics are raised: about pets, about endless village street games, about holidays, about school. Among other topics, the author introduces children to babies, how beautiful and terrible they are at the same time, how difficult and good it is with them.

Dedmorozovka

These adventures of Andrey Usachev are an absolute hit for children 4 years and older. You can find negative reviews about almost every book, but I have never seen anything negative about Dedmorozovka. These are truly captivating stories. Each story is perceived as independent. It is better to read them closer to the new year or at the beginning of winter, and it is better to buy in advance. In winter, books about Dedmorozovka are sorted out! Stories are sold as individual books (My-shop, Ozon, Ozon) and big collection. We have a collection "All about Dedmorozovka" (My-shop, Ozon) and now it is not available. Perhaps by winter it will appear. Review, audiobook links.

Reflections on the perception of humor by young children.

I understand the desire of many mothers to quickly get to funny fairy tales and start reading them at almost 2 years old. Especially those copies in which there is little text. Hold on! Hold on at least until the child grows up to 3 years, even better up to 4-5. At 4-5, the child perceives humor much more consciously. At an early age, a sense of humor is just beginning to form, and the vocabulary does not yet allow one to perceive new texts without comments.

Let's take an anecdote as an example:

Today I'm on the bus to the store for computer memory, my wife calls, during the conversation she asks where I am. I answer: - I'm going for memory. We talked, I put down the pipe. A boy of 3-4 years old sits next to me with his mother, looks at me so incomprehensibly, then asks his mother: - Mom, where is my uncle going for memory? - Uncle goes to good wizard Goodwin for memory, and he will also give his uncle courage ... ... the bus lay ...

To understand the humor of this anecdote, you need to know at least: 1. The plot of the tale " The Wizard of Oz"and 2. The basics of a computer device. Imagine the perception of this anecdote without this knowledge.

I know, there are mothers who comment on incomprehensible places on the go. It's great, but only when it's not about humor. Imagine you are told a joke, and then they explain information that you did not know before, necessary for understanding this joke. Let's remember that humor evokes especially strong emotions when it is sudden and understandable. If you read funny texts, the subject area of which is not familiar to the child, the moment of surprise is lost.

I know that several people will definitely show up to prove that their child understood humor as early as 2 years old. My child also laughed at 2 years old, laughed when others laughed or when others expected him to laugh. But as such, there is still no sense of humor at 2 years old and cannot be, since the mental apparatus and knowledge base have not yet been formed to understand humorous texts and illustrations.

"Masha girl, Natasha doll and all-all-all" (My-shop, Labirint, Ozon)

"Stories in pictures" (My-shop, Labirint, Ozon)

List of books for children 5 years old

At the age of 5, we continue to re-read previously bought books:

  • Firstly, many copies that I read to Yana at the age of 3 and 4 are perceived in a completely different way - more holistically, more qualitatively.
  • Secondly, Yana begins to read herself, and for these purposes I chose books with poems and the shortest texts. These included books by Marshak, Donaldson.

Alexander Pushkin

Some mothers, having read the book “After 3, it’s too late” and her followers begin to stuff the child with untimely knowledge. At one time, I, infected with the same idea, stubbornly introduced two-year-old Yana Pushkin into the head. I'm sure many still think that such maneuvers are of particular benefit. Explaining my current position:

Many people know about the technique of Glen Doman. This technique was created for special children who have limited opportunities. These children cannot normally move, talk, or think. It is impossible for such children to verbally explain or show and ask them to repeat many simple things after you (how to assemble a puzzle, a pyramid, teach how a dog barks, and much more). Since it is sometimes impossible to reach these children through the usual (maximally effective) channels, out of hopelessness, methodologists try a wide variety of options, including passive ones. By passive options, I mean options when, within the framework of interaction, the child only accepts influence from the outside. For example, if you show pictures to a child, the child looks, massage the child, the child perceives contact with his body. But at the same time, the child is passive and, therefore, the beneficial effect of this is minimal. IN hundreds of times greater effect is manifested if the child himself makes efforts even mental, even physical: collects a puzzle, does gymnastics. Passive development is the destiny of those who do not have the opportunity to live actively.

Now let's compare passive and active reading:

  • With active reading, the child catches the course of events in the plot, highlights the main characters, makes an assumption about the continuation of the course of events, etc. Those. with active reading, the thinking apparatus is tightly involved.
  • In passive reading, only the absorption function works and numerous unsuccessful attempts to understand what is heard are made. Passive reading is inefficient. If a mother chooses books that are too difficult for a child, passive reading occurs. You understand such reading cannot be interesting. Yes, mom's enthusiastic reading and her smile will make the baby sit and listen for a while. But as the child grows up, he will not love books, he simply has nothing to love them for.

In general, in my opinion, 5 years to get acquainted with the tales of Guns - good age. I started introducing Yana to Pushkin's fairy tales at the age of 4. A couple of simpler tales were perceived well. The rest included an abundance of new concepts, which made it difficult to perceive. I recommend reading Pushkin's fairy tales at the first acquaintance in the following order:

  • An excerpt from Lukomorye from Ruslan and Lyudmila;
  • The Tale of the Goldfish;
  • The Tale of Tsar Saltan;
  • The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Bogatyrs.
"All Pushkin's Tales" (My-shop, Ozon). Democratic collection with abundant illustrations. unpretentious, colorful illustrations without frills. Democratic price. "Golden Tales" (My-shop , Ozon) Illustrations by A. Reipolsky "Tales" (Labirint) Illustrations by M. Karpenko "Tales" (Labirint) Illustrations by V. Nazaruk

On this moment Yana's library has a democratic collection. And yet, I want Pushkin to be represented adequately. I considered several collections given in the table above and I think to stop on the version with Nazaruk's illustrations.

Astrid Lindgren

Now many people talk about what they want to show the child, the diversity beautiful places, various games, creativity, etc. Then the children turn into teenagers and continue to master the diversity of life, not taking into account the elementary principle "bad things must be avoided." Our family has a slightly different position on education. To bake a special cake, you do not have to try to shove everything interesting that is in the store into it. It is necessary to put high-quality basic ingredients (flour, butter, eggs) into it and add a twist. If you overdo it, you will simply ruin the cake. If a low-quality ingredient gets into the pie. For example, rancid oil. Again down the drain the whole pie. Although sometimes you can get out of the situation, if you understand the omission in time, you can add a bright spice that will kill the taste. Approximately from this point of view, one can consider education. Therefore, books are important ingredients educational process, it is important to choose taking into account the result that we want to get. So it was in the USSR. At that time, the state was trying to mold individuals. People with the worst material side of life had less psychological problems and a more positive attitude towards life. Now this moment is on its own. But no one forbids parents to shape the personality of their children. One of the components of the formation is the selection of books and cartoons that teach the right attitude to life. In my opinion, children who are brought up on all the variety of mass production are doomed to have narrow consumer views. Each force molds people according to its own interests. Accordingly, the interests of the consumer industry are to increase consumer capacities. Even if you study the work of the classic author, you can find dark spots, to say nothing of the large flow of modern literature.

"About Lotta from Gorlastoy Street" (My-shop), Ozon) A book with many nice illustrations. It is a continuation of the book "Children from Throat Street" My-shop, Ozon). Lotta is an ordinary five-year-old girl: quite capricious, sometimes an inventor. Stories free from moralizing and encouraging negative behavior. The narration is sustained in the style of an almost impartial view from the outside.

This whole adventure story. Story line expressive and engaging. Five-year-old Yana caught it without any problems. Sofia Prokofieva is one of my favorite children's authors. Although she is a Soviet author, I missed her works in my childhood. Now I am catching up and, to be honest, I read good children's books with no less pleasure than I once did in childhood.

"Malusya and Rogoped" (my-shop, ozon). This book is another one of my discoveries. A fascinating and topical story for many preschoolers and primary school children about what can happen if the letters get mixed up. Several photo spreads and a link to the audio version are in this.

List of books for children 5 years old | "Alice in Wonderland"

I have a very touching attitude towards Alice. And although it seems to me that this book is not for young children, I read it to Yana in two translations. Yana asked a lot, but I could not resist 😳 . Zakhoder's translation is designed for children, Demurova's translation is universal and suitable for everyone. Both translations have the same complexity of texts. The main difference between Zakhoder's translation lies in a more characteristic and lively manner of addressing the reader. I often read the blogs of book collectors, including Alice. Frankly, in most collections I do not find Alice, which I like. My Alice in classic illustrations by D. Tenniel. In the table below, we read the left two books, and the right two from my wish list.

Illustrated by Ingpen with translation by Demurova. (My-shop , Ozon)

Illustrated by Chizhikov with translation by Zakhoder (Labirint) Interactive with secrets in classic illustrations by L. Carol, D. Tenniel with translation by Demurova (Labirint) In this book, in addition to Alice in Wonderland, three more fairy tales by L. Carol are hidden! Illustrations classic illustrations by D. Tenniel with the translation of Rozhdestvenskaya (Labirint, Ozon)

Dunno

Dunno is one of my favorite children's books. We read it when Yana was 4 years old and Yana could not keep the versatility of the plot. More than a year has passed since then. Perhaps you should try reading it again. But something tells me that thinking does not yet work in such a way that the plot is fully loaded into memory and retained when reading. The illustrations of Dunno by Valk and A. Laptev are considered classic. Both options cannot be found during the day with fire. Dunno was the first to appear with the popular Laptev. At one time, I was very pleased that I managed to “snatch” a scarce copy. It should be noted that in fact the illustrations of Laptev and Valk are more than modest. Now a copy in the illustrations by Vadim Chelak has appeared in our library! It was this artist who painted Dunno the way I see him.

Dunno illustrated by G. Valk (My-shop, Ozon). Rosman promises to release a new edition in the near future. Dunno illustrated by A. Laptev (Labirint) Illustrated by Vadim Chelak (Labirint, Ozon, My-shop). Celak's drawings are thin, light, filigree, the best!

List of books for children 5 years old | Russian folk tales

We have a lot of Russian folk tales about animals (cycles about animals are designed for the smallest reader), but about Baba Yaga, Koshchei the immortal, Zmeya Gorynych, there is only one too serious collection from the Gift of Speech series.

  16. Copper, silver and gold realms
  17. Tale of Vasilisa the Wise.

Having gone through all the collections in online stores, I found the most impressive selection of fairy tales in the book “Fairytale Rus'. Fairy tales". Such generous content is hard to resist. I was looking forward to this book with great anticipation. Literally today (09/03/2018) she got into our collection. At first glance, I was a little disappointed by the quality of the illustrations. It is not flawless, as in ed. Speech. It can be seen with the naked eye that the illustrations have been restored from poor quality sources. I hope that the texts do not disappoint.

Portion of touching books by contemporary authors ed. Speech

This portion is from the wishlist. I compiled my impressions of these books by reading spreads in the Labyrinth. The expressive images and narrative atmosphere created by these books give a feeling of warmth and comfort. When you read them, you get the impression that you had already read them as a child and simply forgot. Incredibly touching lyrics.

"Caravel and I" (Labirint) Petya and ice cream (Labirint) When Mom Was Little (Labirint) A very pleasant presentation of humor.

Disney cartoon books (Labirint)

We only have one book in the series. I usually avoid books based on cartoons, especially foreign ones. As a rule, the texts in them are low-grade. But now, for half a year, Yana has a favorite cartoon. I've had favorites before, but this one is really special! Once, when it was necessary to surprise and please a child, I came across books in this series.

I bought Frozen. To new shores. Any other book is simply not capable of evoking as many emotions in a child as a book based on their favorite cartoon. We must pay tribute, the text and illustrations are of acceptable quality. The plot does not intersect with the plot of the cartoon, but is its continuation. Of course, as such artistic value these books have nothing. The stories are primitive and sugary to the point of cloying, but the plots reveal moments that are fascinating for children. The drawings are computer generated, but quite nice. To inexperienced book lovers, these books may well seem the pinnacle of book publishing. In general, for fans of Disney cartoons, I recommend cute and acceptable books in terms of quality. And in the near future I will definitely buy the second book based on the cartoon Frozen. Such series quickly disappear from stock, we must keep up. There are more books in the series than I listed in the table, to see the entire composition of the series, follow the link Labirint.

"Cold heart. Northern Legends (Labirint) "Cold heart. To new shores "((Labirint) "Snow White" (Labirint) "Beauty and the Beast" (Labirint)

Books for fans of the cartoon Frozen (My-shop, Ozon)

A series of new adventures of Anna and Elsa. The stories are very exciting for girls 5-8 years old. The text is interesting for children, but weak from a literary point of view. I like to use such books as an encouragement or motivator. They can be bought in advance and slipped to the child in important point when he excelled. We currently have 3 books in the series. If interest in the cartoon does not disappear, I will buy the rest. The most ideal use for such books is to motivate them to read independently, but the texts in them are quite voluminous.), A book of 48 pages! I will order the rest of the books in the princess series.

The text in the books is brief retelling original stories. The font is enlarged, there is a breakdown by syllables and stress. It's a pity Difficult words not replaced by simpler synonyms. Later I will prepare a separate post on books for the first independent reading and my life hacks on this topic. A post about the very first stages of learning to read. I also want to add that in order to introduce independent reading, I try to choose plots that are unfamiliar and fascinating for Yana in order to stir up interest in reading. Of the cartoons based on Disney princesses, Yana, at the age of 5, saw only Frozen and Cinderella.

The impressions of the series after studying the story books, which Yana did not know from the cartoons, worsened. The text is adapted so that a child who does not know the plot of a fairy tale is incomprehensible.

"Cold heart" (Labirint,)). I really liked the idea of the book. I think it's a great option for a first acquaintance with geography. "Wheel" (Labirint, Ozon) Acquaintance with the history of the wheel in pictures. In addition to the wheel itself, in the pictures you can see a lot of details. different eras(clothes, vehicles and so on.)

List of books for children 5 years old | Disappointment in the classics

It is accepted in our society classical works“love” or keep silent about your attitude towards them. Break the mold and speak out. I have my own view of literature and therefore I am not afraid to admit that some copies of the classics do not impress me.

  • "Pinocchio" - my biggest book disappointment of the last 10 years. I remember reading Pinocchio as a child as fascinating and funny. In reality, the text turned out to be about suspicious personalities, dark deeds, criminals, and police inaction. It seems that the author, with his story, threatens naughty children to be at the bottom of life if they do not correct themselves. Now it is fashionable to criticize the classics, you can consider that I am subject to this wave and trying to get into the trend :-), but still I want everyone to understand that there are no books that are equally good for everyone. For me, the story turned out to be completely uninteresting, and its content caused a lot of complaints. Again, Yana liked it :-). However, I am not going to dissuade anyone from buying Pinocchio. In my opinion, books that are significant in society should be read, passed through oneself and formed one’s own own attitude. Each person's attitude to books is connected with many factors, including a person's attitude to life, so it cannot be the same for different people. And yet, with the book it is better not to rush. For five-year plans full text complicated, adapted primitive.
Meanwhile, in online stores, I found Pinocchio for sale in ill. Kazbekova (My-shop , Labirint). Almost everything about this book is great. But the face of Malvina Kazbekov looks like the face of a woman of indeterminate age, clumsily plucking her eyebrows. I held this book in my hands and flipped through from cover to cover in the hope of finding other illustrations by Malvina that are not in the Labyrinth. It turned out that all the illustrations of the book were laid out in the Labyrinth. Please note that Pinocchio Kazbekova is also not a little boy. The author portrays him as a teenager. In the library of Yana Pinocchio in Vladimirsky's classic illustrations (Labirint, Ozon, My-shop). Of all the options that are now on sale, I lean towards a book with Kokorin's illustrations. They are made in a cartoon-sloppy style, but at the same time the main characters look aesthetically pleasing.

  • Daniil Kharms. The works of this author are not accepted by us. Our library has a large collection of his work for children. Read and try to understand. From the biography of Kharms, you can find out that he wrote for children exclusively at the request of the publisher. When you get acquainted with creativity with the knowledge of the fact that the author was engaged in an unloved business, then you automatically find flaws. Almost every second work of Kharms features smoking accessories or a smoking character. For me, this fact is a demonstration of a dismissive and disrespectful attitude towards their own readers.
  • "Katya in a toy city"(Labirint) A. Alexandrova, V. Berestov. adventure story which seemed boring to us. For the youngest, the text is complicated; for children 4-5 years old, the plot is rustic.
  • "Kubarik and Tomatic"(labirint). A popular book, familiar to many and dear to childhood memories. Came to us when Yana was 3 years old. At that moment, it turned out that all the knowledge that is given in it for the three-year-old Yana has already passed the stage. The book contains topics that are considered in modern educational books in 1-2 years. For example: one-many, equally, long-short, etc. It is not possible to read this book at 1-2 years old, since the volume of text is too large for this age.
  • Nosov's stories. Also, a large collection of Nosov's stories (My-shop, Ozon) is gathering dust in the bookcase. Yana will soon be 5.5, but so far Yana has not appreciated his stories. Periodically we try to read them, but so far no interest has been shown.
  • "Kashtanka" Chekhov. Yana loves to listen to this story, BUT: Chekhov has a complex and specific language - not for preschoolers. In addition, the atmosphere of the work is heavy in the book. It seems to me that modern refined children of 5 years old are not able to perceive the specifics of this work. To understand many serious works, one must grow spiritually: to gain experience of serious experiences, hardships, and losses. Works should be read such that there is an opportunity to understand.

And another portion of reflections on reading at the age of 4-5 years

  • At this age, the child can perceive texts by ear. This means that part of the library of a child aged 4 and over may be in electronic form in audio or text format. In circumstances of economy, from the age of 4 I would buy Yana books only with atmospheric and plentiful illustrations, I would read the rest from the reader or include them in audio format.
  • The audio format is ideal for children. Fantasy works the same way as when parents read a book. I choose professionally read books or audio plays. Because of the poor sound quality, I don't like digitizing from records. Often they have a sound with squeaks, noises and other defects. We listen to many books in audio format before purchasing. I published a small selection of our favorite audiobooks.
  • When Yana turned 4, I had a desire to distribute her "baby" books, and I even gave some of them to my friends. When Yana turned 5, it turned out that baby books with short texts are ideal for the first reading.

Completion

At the moment, I have told about all our artistic book finds for the period from 0 to 5 years. I leave a bunch of unworthy books behind the scenes, as their lists are endless, and you will get tired of reading. We also have a decent stack of encyclopedias, developmental manuals and board games for the 4-5+ age category, and I can't wait to tell you about this wealth.

P.S. When choosing children's books, remember the words of Erast Kuznetsov:

“Children by nature are greedy for everything colorful, lurid, even vulgar. They have to instill a taste, consistently and persistently, and you won’t instill it in everyone. And if it is generally believed that a child needs to work like an adult, only better, then this is not at all because the child is able to so demandingly evaluate high quality, but because it is especially important for its formation.

Thanks to everyone who read to the end 🙂 . To be continued …
