Environment day of the year. world environment day

In honor of the World Environment Day and Ecologist's Day, SPB MIPC launches a campaign with holiday discounts on education.

We are part of nature. Nature can exist perfectly without us, we cannot exist without it. It sounds a little cruel, but it is precisely this alignment that should motivate us to take care of the environment. For this reason, the holiday, which is celebrated on the fifth of June, is so important for humanity. When we talk about importance, we do not mean the number of people involved in its celebration (70% of the inhabitants of the Earth are unlikely to have heard of such a day at all), but about the potential benefits that such a holiday can and should bring. Why potential? Because, despite the periodic actions organized by environmentalists, the real percentage of this protection is incredibly small. In comparison with the harm that we cause to the Earth with our activities, it is completely negligible. Just think about it, according to official figures, every sixth inhabitant of the planet has his own personal car. And if you add public transport to this number: trams, trains, ships and planes, then the number is completely incredible. Modern humanity cannot imagine its existence without enterprises, factories, plants and farms. Every year, about 8 million hectares of forest are cut down in the world, tens of billions of animals are destroyed. All this individually and collectively causes irreparable harm to nature, and hence to our health, because we drink water polluted with chemicals, breathe air poisoned by exhaust gases.

For the first time, the need to start taking care of nature was seriously discussed at a conference in Stockholm in 1972. After numerous appeals from a huge number of cultural figures to the UN Secretary General, the participants of the Swedish forum set themselves on fire with the idea to awaken people's desire to participate in the preservation of the ecosystem of our planet. At the same time, the World Environment Day was invented and approved, which is celebrated every year on June 5th.

The main idea of the holiday is the general unification of the forces of all countries and peoples of the world. After all, we are all inhabitants of planet Earth. We are all consumers of its resources. It is necessary to be able not only to take, but also to give. The date of June 5 is only a reminder of the need for care, it does not mean that you need to take any measures only on this day. Take care of the house must be global and daily. Only by uniting can we help our nature. Reducing the amount of harmful emissions into the oceans and air, introducing restrictions on hunting and catching, properly processing and disposing of waste, and creating parks and reserves are the primary tasks that humanity must perform. In Russia, June 5 is also celebrated as the Day of the Ecologist.

In honor of such an important holiday, the Irkutsk branch of the St. Petersburg Interdisciplinary Institute for Advanced Studies is holding an action. From June 5 to June 30, the Institute offers you to improve your qualifications under the Environmental Safety program for only 2,500 rubles. In addition, you can choose another topic related to environmental protection. Call the free hotline or order a call back on the website. Our operator will help you choose the right program, tell you what documents you need to collect and send all materials for training. After it is completed, we will send your certificate of advanced training by mail at our expense. We remind you that the training is conducted remotely, so you can study without interrupting your main job. Help save our planet from destruction and save a home for your children.

June 5 is World Environment Day. It was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972. The choice of date is justified by the fact that on this day the UN Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm, 1972) opened.

The conference adopted a declaration containing 26 principles that should guide all states in their activities aimed at protecting the environment and rational use of natural resources. For the first time, it was proclaimed that the protection and improvement of the environment for present and future generations is the primary task of mankind.
World Environment Day is one of the main ways for the UN to draw the attention of the world community to environmental issues, as well as to stimulate political interest and related action.

Environmental protection is a system of state and public measures (technological, economic, administrative and legal, educational, international) aimed at the harmonious interaction of society and nature, the preservation and reproduction of existing ecological communities and natural resources for the sake of living and future generations. Today, environmental problems are among the most important and determine the level of well-being of the entire world civilization and, in particular, our country. Russia plays a key role in maintaining the global functions of the biosphere, since its vast territories, occupied by various natural ecosystems, represent a significant part of the biological diversity of the Earth.

The theme of the World Environment Day is determined annually. In 2012, the day was dedicated to the green economy, hosted by Brazil. In 2013, World Environment Day is dedicated to the problem of rational use of food and reducing wasted food, he.
Every year, about 30% of the world's food is lost or wasted. In monetary terms, this volume is equal to a trillion dollars.
Food waste is a major problem in developed countries, most often driven by retail chains and consumers throwing food that is still edible into the trash can.
At the same time, one in seven people in the world go to bed hungry and more than 20,000 children under the age of 5 die of hunger every day. Food waste is also a huge depletion of natural resources and a contributor to negative environmental impacts.

Ecologists named 10 pearls of Russia's nature under the threat of destructionOn the eve of World Environment Day and the All-Russian Day of the Ecologist, WWF named ten natural places in Russia that may lose their ecological value in the coming years due to human fault.

Mongolia was chosen as the host for World Environment Day 2013. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) reported that Mongolia was given this honor due to its efforts to promote a green economy, including green technologies in the mining sector. The country's government has introduced a moratorium on the development of new coal deposits, and also announced plans to switch to energy from renewable sources. In addition, the achievements of Mongolia in the environmental education of young people were noted.
On World Environment Day in many countries of the world, environmental events and actions aimed at protecting the environment and ecology are held.

Domestic ecologists also celebrate their professional holiday on June 5 . The corresponding decree was signed on June 21, 2007 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Ecologist Day was first held in 2008.
The appearance of this holiday in Russia emphasizes the importance of the professional activities of state environmental institutions at all levels, non-governmental environmental organizations and everyone who contributes to the conservation of nature and the environment.
The issues of environmental protection are among the priority issues of the political, economic and social life of the country, being one of the tasks of national security. The right of citizens of the Russian Federation to a favorable environment is enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

10 natural gems of Russia that may disappearOn the eve of World Environment Day, he named ten unique places in our country that may lose their ecological value in the coming years. RIA Novosti brings to your attention a map of the natural pearls of Russia, which are in serious danger due to human fault.

In Russia, according to estimates for 2012, there are about 12 thousand specially protected natural areas (SPNA) of various levels and categories. The basis of the federal system of protected areas is 102 reserves, 43 national parks and 70 federal reserves. According to the Concept for the Development of the Protected Area System, which was approved in 2011, it is planned to create 11 more reserves, 20 national parks and one federal reserve in the next eight years.

Within the framework of the World Environment Day and the Day of the Ecologist, actions are organized annually in nature reserves and national parks in order to attract public attention to environmental problems. Guided tours, clean-up events, environmental education programs and open days are held in specially protected areas.

The international forum considered the concept of sustainable development as a concept of human progress. The conference participants created the Stockholm Declaration. The document established 26 principles of environmental conservation, placed responsibility and obligations on the state in environmental matters.

Festive events are accompanied by an annual theme that reflects the current problems facing humanity. On this day, people plant trees, shrubs, remove garbage. Greenpeace is an influential international environmental organization. Her actions are supported by activists around the world. The activities of the organization are focused on the protection of forests, water bodies, pollution control, and nuclear disarmament. It is based on three principles: independence, non-violence, protest action. Campaigns are funded by donations.

The UN Conference on Sustainable Development "Rio + 20", which was held on June 20-22, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, added the principles of combating poverty and social problems to the provisions on nature protection.

The most acute problem of our time is the protection of what surrounds us. The threat of ecological catastrophe hangs over the planet. And a lot depends on whether the younger generation will be able to protect nature from a thoughtless ax, whether it will be ready to keep intact the protected forests and their inhabitants. The earth can no longer cope with human activity. Everything that surrounds us is polluted, animals are exterminated, these processes are irreversible and will affect us all.

In June 1972, a meeting began, which touched upon problems related to the living environment. This day has become a holiday of environmentalists, which is celebrated by many countries around the world. It makes you wonder how man harms nature.

Each holiday has its own theme. In addition, days are celebrated annually aimed at protecting the aquatic environment, air, and atmosphere. Measures are being taken to protect nature. It is becoming more and more obvious that for us the future directly depends on the solution of problems related to the outside world. Issues of man-made disasters and the destruction of natural landscapes have become topical.

Each country creates organizations that protect the environment. Actions are being taken to protect it. They are environmentally oriented, improve the environmental situation. The ongoing actions call to see environmental problems, to look for ways to resolve them.
